Postans is an unpopulated suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. The suburb is named after George Postans who was one of the first settlers in the area. He arrived in the Colony as a convict in 1850 and after he was released he bought 100 acres (0.40 km2) of land in 1882. The suburb was formerly known as "Caledonia". An agriculture research station known as "Medina Research Station", part of the Department of Agriculture and Food of the state government of Western Australia, is located in the suburb. The suburb is otherwise dominated by several quarries, a tailing pond of the nearby Alcoa alumina refinery and a facility called the "Kwinana Wastewater Treatment Plant".

Hope Valley is located approximately 28 kilometres (18 mi) away from Western Australia's capital, Perth. The distance from Hope Valley to Australia's capital Canberra is approximately 3,092 kilometres (1,921 mi) away. According to the 2021 census, the population of Hope Valley is 39. Between 1882 and 1886, European settlement began in the area when a community consisting of small mixed farms, named Hope Valley after the property of its first settler George Postans, was established. Hope Valley was officially gazetted as a locality in 1962.

The Spectacles Wetlands (Noongar: Djinining) is a wetland located in the eponymous suburb, 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of the central business district of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. It is part of Beeliar Regional Park. It consists of two distinct swamps, the Large Eye Swamp in the north and the Small Eye Swamp in the south. The wetland is also on the City of Kwinana heritage list.

The Spectacles is a mixed-use suburb located in the City of Kwinana within the Perth Metropolitan Region, the state capital of Western Australia. It comprises almost entirely a wetland reserve, The Spectacles Wetlands, surrounded by degraded native bushland. A small number of residential housing properties lie in the south-eastern corner of the suburb. The Spectacles wetland area is considered to be the most valuable asset of Kwinana's natural environment, covering 3.7 square kilometres. It is named The Spectacles because it comprises two lakes connected by a drain, giving it the appearance of a pair of spectacles from an aerial perspective.One third of The Spectacles is owned by Alcoa and was originally intended for residue disposal. As The Spectacles was not suitable for this purpose and the conservation value of the wetlands was recognised, Alcoa funded extensive rehabilitation and provided parking, picnic areas, walk trails, cycle paths, a board walk and bird hides to enable viewing of a number of species of native birds, including the rufous night heron. The Spectacles actually contains two major wetlands, including the southernmost wetlands within Beeliar Regional Park and is surrounded by banksia woodland. To date $250,000 has been spent on many different walk trails, signage and boardwalks in this area.

Perth Motorplex is a motorsport venue located at Kwinana Beach, Western Australia. It caters mainly for drag racing and speedway, although other events are held there regularly. Over 275,000 patrons attend the venue each year to many varied events. The Perth Motorplex holds rounds of the World Series Sprintcars championship.

Medina is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. It lies 32 km south of central Perth. Medina was the first developed of the Kwinana suburbs named after ships carrying settlers to the Swan River Colony in 1829 and 1830. Medina arrived at Fremantle on 6 July 1830 with 51 passengers on board. The ship's name Medina is believed to be derived from the River Medina on the Isle of Wight, and was approved as a suburb name in 1953. Streets were named after passengers and crew, such as Pace Road after Captain Walter Pace, and Ridley Green, Ridley Way and Ridley Court after passenger Mary Eliza Ridley.

Bala Murugan Temple (Tamil: பெர்த் சிவன் கோவில்), is a Hindu temple in Mandogalup, in Perth, Western Australia, dedicated to the god Murugan. The temple is run by the volunteers of the temple. The groundbreaking took place in 1996 and was completed and opened in 2008.

Gilmore College is an independent public co-educational high day school, located in Orelia, an outer south-western suburb of Perth in Western Australia, Sited approximately 32 kilometres (20 mi) from the Perth CBD, the school is located on Dargin Place. Formerly known as Kwinana Senior High School (1959 to 2007), and originally was called Medina Junior High School (1956 to 1958), the name Gilmore College was adopted in 2006. The school was established in 1956 and caters for students from Year 7 to Year 12. Years 7 to 9 comprise the College's middle school, and Years 10 to 12 comprise the College's senior school. The number of student enrolments have been erratic over the last five years. The school enrolled 780 students in 2007, then 1,204 in 2008, to 1,075 in 2009, then fell to 986 in 2010 and to 957 in 2011. The fall in student numbers from 2010 is a result of the enrolment age changing for students entering high school in Western Australia. Also the fall in student numbers was due to the Peter Carnley Anglican Community School opening nearby in 2007.

Orelia is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. Orelia is one of the Kwinana suburbs named after a ship. Orelia arrived at Fremantle bringing settlers to the new Swan River Colony in October 1829. Development of the area commenced in 1952.Orelia Avenue is the main residential street that runs through the suburb. There is a distinct difference between the established houses on the west side and the newly built homes on the east side. However, despite this juxtaposition, there is a cross mix between the style and design of housing in the suburb which adds to its originality and character.

On 13 June 2016, 18-year-old Aaron Lee Pajich-Sweetman disappeared from Rockingham, Western Australia. During the night of 20–21 June, police searching a property in Orelia found his body. Two women—25-year-old Jemma Victoria Lilley and 42-year-old Trudi Clare Lenon—were arrested and charged with murder. On 1 November 2017, Lilley and Lenon were convicted of the murder of Pajich by the Supreme Court of Western Australia, and on 28 February 2018, they were sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 28 years.

Naval Base is an coastal southwestern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. It is a traditional industrial suburb in the Perth metropolitan region and contains a significant amount of heavy industry. It is named after the proposed and partially built Henderson Naval Base.The Naval Base campus of South Metropolitan TAFE houses the Western Australian Defence Industry Workforce Office and the Naval Shipbuilding College.

Wattleup is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Cockburn. In the mid 1990's to the early 2000's, planning was undertaken to redevelop the suburb as part of the Hope Valley-Wattleup Redevelopment Project, also known as "Latitude 32". This was to involve the acquisition and demolition of the townsite, and its rezoning and redevelopment for industrial use. The townsite of Wattleup was located at the western end of the suburb, at the intersection of Wattleup Road and Rockingham Road. Wattleup had many market gardens in the past. They provided agricultural produce for the town of Fremantle.The suburb's name originates from Wattleup Road which dates back to 1931. The name of Wattleup was approved for the suburb in May 1962.
