Robert William Traip Academy (often abbreviated as R. W. Traip Academy or simply Traip Academy) is a public high school located in Kittery, Maine. It serves the towns of Kittery and Kittery Point, Maine. It is adjacent to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The incoming principal is Jane Durgin, as of July 1st, 2023.[1]

The Rice Public Library is the public library of Kittery, Maine. It is located at 8 Wentworth Street (Maine State Route 103) in the central Kittery Foreside village, in an architecturally distinguished Romanesque Revival building built in 1889 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, with a large annex just across the street at 2 Walker Street.

The Mark F. and Eliza J. Wentworth House is a historic house at 9 Wentworth Street in Kittery, Maine. Probably built in the second quarter of the 19th century and given Italianate styling c. 1866, it is notable for its association with Mark Fernald Wentworth, a distinguished physician and decorated veteran of the American Civil War. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Robert and Louisa Traip House is a historic house at 2 Wentworth Street (Maine State Route 103) in Kittery, Maine. Built about 1839, it is a rare statewide example of a Greek Revival house with colonnaded sides. Robert Traip, its first owner, was one of Kittery's wealthiest men at the time. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

William Whipple House at 88 Whipple Road in Kittery, Maine is one of the oldest houses in Maine and was the birthplace of Founding Father, Revolutionary War general, and Declaration of Independence signatory, William Whipple. The oldest portion of home dates to circa 1660 and was occupied first by Robert Cutt who fortified it as a garrison house. William Whipple was born in the house in 1731 and later he moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire after his marriage in 1767. In 2017 the house was restored by its new owner Michael Sullivan.

The Kittery Community Center is located in the former Frank C. Frisbee Elementary School at 120 Rogers Road in Kittery, Maine. The building, built in 1943 by the United States government as part of war-related expansions of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015 for this association. It served Kittery as a school until 2009, and was converted for use as a multi-function community center providing space for arts, culture, and recreational activities in 2011-12.

John Paul Jones Memorial Park is a municipal park in the town of Kittery, Maine. The trapezoidal park, flanked by the lanes of United States Route 1 approaching the Memorial Bridge across the Piscataqua River, was established in 1926 and named for American Revolutionary War naval hero John Paul Jones. Its centerpiece is a memorial commemorating the soldiers and sailors of the state of Maine, designed by Bashka Paeff. The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The second USS Portsmouth was a wooden sloop-of-war in the United States Navy in service during the mid-to-late 19th century. She was designed by Josiah Barker on the lines of a French-built privateer, and built at the Portsmouth Navy Yard, directly across the Piscataqua River from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was described as an improvement over USS Saratoga built in the same shipyard a year earlier. Portsmouth was launched on 23 October 1843 and commissioned on 10 November 1844, with Commander John Berrien Montgomery in command.

The Piscataqua River border dispute was a dispute between the US states of Maine and New Hampshire over ownership of Seavey’s Island in the Piscataqua River, which forms the border between Maine and New Hampshire. The dispute was settled in 2002 by the US Supreme Court in favor of Maine.

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, often called the Portsmouth Navy Yard, is a United States Navy shipyard in Kittery on the southern boundary of Maine near the city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Founded in 1800, PNS is U.S. Navy's oldest continuously operating shipyard. Today, most of its work concerns the overhaul, repair, and modernization of submarines.As of November 2021, the shipyard employed more than 6,500 federal employees. As well, some of the work is performed by private corporations (e.g., Delphinius Engineering of Eddystone, Pennsylvania; Oceaneering International of Chesapeake, Virginia; Orbis Sibro of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and Q.E.D. Systems Inc. of Virginia Beach, Virginia).

Kittery is a town in York County, Maine, United States. Home to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on Seavey's Island, Kittery includes Badger's Island, the seaside district of Kittery Point, and part of the Isles of Shoals. The southernmost town in the state, it is a tourist destination known for its many outlet stores. Kittery is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. The town's population was 10,070 at the 2020 census.
