The First Parish Church is an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ. The church meetinghouse sits at 207 Maine Street in Brunswick, Maine. Built in 1845 to a design by Richard Upjohn, it is a unique example of Gothic Revival architecture done in wood, as the church was built with vertical board-and-batten paneling. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. The congregation dates to 1717. The Senior Pastor is Rev. John Allen.

Maine Street is the main street passing through Brunswick, Maine, United States. Laid out in 1717, it runs for around 2 miles (3.2 km), from its convergence with Main Street in Topsham in the north to a convergence with Mere Point Road and an intersection with Pleasant Hill Road in the south. The street is part of Brunswick Commercial Historic District. In 2026, Travel + Leisure magazine named Maine Street fourth in its list of America's most charming Main Streets. The Pejepscot Falls Bridge separates Brunswick and Topsham, on the northern side of the Androscoggin River's Brunswick Falls. At its northern end, Maine Street forms the starting point of U.S. Route 201 (US 201). Topsham's Main Street picks up the designation at the bridge's midpoint. At its southern extremity, Maine Street picks up the Maine State Route 24 (SR 24) designation, which it carries north to its intersection with Bath Road, beside Bowdoin College. The need for the route to bypass downtown Brunswick arose because of the low capacity of the Frank J. Wood Bridge (the predecessor to the Pejepscot Falls Bridge). Maine Street was named Twelve Rod Road prior to Maine's statehood in 1820. A rod is an imperial unit equal to 16.5 feet (5.0 m) making the width of Maine Street equal to 198 feet (60 m), one of the state's broadest main streets. Maine Street was formerly the route of the old Indian trail which led between the falls of the Androscoggin and Maquoit Bay. On June 3, 1717, by order of the Pejepscot Proprietors, construction started on the road spanning from Fort George to Maquoit Bay. From Bowdoin College south to Maquoit Bay, a mile distant, the street would be split and called Mere Point Road. U.S. Route 1 passes beneath Maine Street just south of the Pejepscot Falls Bridge, while major intersections along its route (from north to south) are Pleasant Street, Bath Road (SR 24) and Pleasant Hill Road.

The Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum was the home of American Civil War general, Bowdoin College president, and Maine Governor Joshua L. Chamberlain for over 50 years. Located at the corner of Maine and Potter Streets in Brunswick, Maine, the house is now open seasonally to the public and is in the process of being restored as it was when Chamberlain lived there.

Massachusetts Hall is the oldest building on the campus of Bowdoin College, in Brunswick, Maine. It was built 1798–1802, and has seen a number of uses during the school's long history. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Federal Street Historic District of Brunswick, Maine encompasses a part of the town whose development was influenced by its 18th-century success as a shipping center, and by the presence of Bowdoin College (chartered 1794), whose historic central campus is part of the district. In addition to the campus, the district includes a series of relatively high-style Federal and later-period houses along Federal Street and Maine Street, which join the campus to downtown Brunswick. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Bowdoin College ( BOW-dn) is a private liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. When Bowdoin was chartered in 1794, Maine was still a part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The college offers 35 majors and 40 minors, as well as several joint engineering programs with Columbia, Caltech, Dartmouth College, and the University of Maine.The college was a founding member of its athletic conference, the New England Small College Athletic Conference, and the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin Consortium, an athletic conference and inter-library exchange with Bates College and Colby College. Bowdoin has over 30 varsity teams, and the school mascot was selected as a polar bear in 1913 to honor Robert Peary, a Bowdoin alumnus who led the first successful expedition to the North Pole. Between the years 1821 and 1921, Bowdoin operated a medical school called the Medical School of Maine.The main Bowdoin campus is located near Casco Bay and the Androscoggin River. In addition to its Brunswick campus, Bowdoin owns a 118-acre (48 ha) coastal studies center on Orr's Island and a 200-acre (81 ha) scientific field station on Kent Island in the Bay of Fundy.

The Bowdoin College Museum of Art is an art museum located in Brunswick, Maine. Included on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum is located in a building on the campus of Bowdoin College designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead, and White. The Museum’s landmark Walker Art Building was commissioned for the College by Harriet and Sophia Walker in honor of their uncle, a Boston businessman who had supported the creation of the first small art gallery at Bowdoin in the mid-nineteenth century. Designed by Charles Follen McKim of McKim, Mead, & White, the building was completed in 1894 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. At the entrance are a pair of Medici lion sculptures.

Brunswick Maine Street Station, or Brunswick station, is a multi-modal, multi-use real estate development in Brunswick, Maine. Located on Maine Street, it consists of commercial offices, service centers, healthcare, retail, restaurants, theater and residential space. Brunswick Station is also a transportation hub for city buses, taxis, and passenger trains.The development is split into two parts, the "West" and "East" sides (West and East of Union Street respectively). The west side will consist mostly of residential apartments and homes, along with some retail and commercial office space. The east side consists of mostly retail and commercial office space, along with some apartments. The east side is also the location of the passenger train station. This development was built on the vacant lots surrounding the railroad junction between Portland, Lewiston, Augusta, and Rockland.

Lower Mall is an urban park in Brunswick, Maine, United States. Established in 1823, it is located in the Federal Street Historic District, between Maine Street and Park Row, running from School Street in the north to Bath Road in the south. Veterans Plaza, a grouping of monuments honoring the town's veterans, stands at the park's northern end. There is also a gazebo at the park's southern end. The Skolfield-Whittier House, home of the Pejepscot Historical Society, stands on Park Row. In 1823, the land for this park―which was originally swampy―was sold to the town for "five cents" by three citizens with the stipulation that it be "reserved and used as a public walk or mall." The swamp was filled shortly thereafter. In 2019, there were plans to make Park Row a one-way street, from north to south, to facilitate the growing popularity of the town's farmers' market, which is held in the park. Just beyond the park's southern edge, the Rockland Branch of the Cumberland and Knox Railroad crosses Park Row. Upper Mall is also located between Maine Street and Park Row but adjacent to Bowdoin College, a few hundred feet to the south.

The Harriet Beecher Stowe House is a historic home and National Historic Landmark at 63 Federal Street in Brunswick, Maine, notable as a short-term home of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Calvin Ellis Stowe and where Harriet wrote her 1852 novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. Earlier, it had been the home of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as a student. It is today owned by Bowdoin College. A space within the house, called Harriet's Writing Room, is open to the public.

The Skolfield–Whittier House is a Victorian museum of the Pejepscot Historical Society, located at 161 Park Row in Brunswick, Maine. It is often referred to as a "time capsule" because it has been virtually untouched since the Victorian era.

The Parker Cleaveland House is a historic house at 75 Federal Street in Brunswick, Maine. It was the home, from 1806 to 1858, of Parker Cleaveland (1780–1858), a mineralogist and a professor at nearby Bowdoin College. While he was a professor at Bowdoin College, Cleaveland conducted some of the earliest studies of mineralogy in the United States. His 1816 work Elementary Treatise on Mineralogy and Geology, which included a volume on types and localities of American minerals, became the standard textbook on the subject in American higher education and the model for future mineralogy scholarship and publications. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark in 2000 for its association with Cleaveland. It is now owned by Bowdoin College, and serves as the president's house.
