On August 18, 2023, 66-year-old Laura Ann "Lauri" Carleton was murdered in connection with hanging a pride flag outside the Mag.Pi clothing store that she owned, located in Cedar Glen, California, following an altercation with a patron. According to law enforcement, detectives learned the suspected killer, 26-year-old Travis Ikeguchi, made "several disparaging remarks about a rainbow flag that stood outside the store before shooting Carleton." The murder is being investigated as a possible hate crime.Later that day, Ikeguchi was shot and killed by police after opening fire on them. The murder occurred amid a widespread right-wing anti-LGBT campaign in the United States.

Lake Arrowhead is an artificial lake located in the San Bernardino Mountains on Little Bear Creek, a tributary of Deep Creek and the Mojave River. It has a surface area of approximately 780 acres (320 ha) and a capacity of 48,000 acre⋅ft (59,000 dam3). It is surrounded by the unincorporated community of Lake Arrowhead in San Bernardino County, California. The lake was originally intended to serve as part of a major waterworks project to provide irrigation water to the San Bernardino Valley, and construction of the Lake Arrowhead Dam began toward that end in 1904. However, the original project was halted due to litigation over water supplies to land owners on the desert side of the mountains. Construction of the dam was completed in 1922 by the Arrowhead Lake Company, a Los Angeles syndicate, as part of a plan to develop the area into a resort.Use of the lake is currently controlled by the Arrowhead Lake Association, which maintains the lake for the recreational use of its members. Only Lake Arrowhead residents with lake rights may access the water. With the exception of a small handful of beaches and walkways, mostly attached to lakefront hotels and businesses, the entire lake shore is lined with boat docks and private homes. The Lake Arrowhead community Services District withdraws water from the lake for treatment and distribution to local residents for potable use.

Lake Arrowhead is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) in the San Bernardino Mountains of San Bernardino County, California, surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest, and surrounding the eponymous Lake Arrowhead Reservoir. Lake Arrowhead is located 13 miles north east of the San Bernardino city limits. The population of the CDP was estimated at 12,424 in the 2010 census. It was formerly called "Little Bear Lake", until around 1920, when a group from Los Angeles, the Arrowhead Lake Company, bought the lake and the land surrounding it, and changed its name to Arrowhead Lake. Blue Jay is an unincorporated community located in San Bernardino County, California. It is located in the San Bernardino Mountains, above a region of California known as the Inland Empire. It is within the San Bernardino National Forest. Blue Jay Village itself is located one mile from the southwestern bank of Lake Arrowhead. The town is a part of the Lake Arrowhead Community. Other towns in this community are Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, Twin Peaks, Sky Forest, Agua Fria, and Cedar Glen.

Rim of the World High School is a public secondary school located in Lake Arrowhead, California, at the top of the mountain overlooking the San Bernardino Valley. It is part of the Rim of the World Unified School District and is the only comprehensive 9-12 high school in the system.

Robert Brownlee Observatory (RBO) is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the Mountain Skies Astronomical Society (MSAS). It is located in Lake Arrowhead, California, USA. The observatory was named for Robert Gregg Brownlee, a biochemist.
