Wendefurth Dam

Wendefurth Power Station (German: Pumpspeicherwerk Wendefurth) is a pumped-storage hydroelectric power station on the reservoir of the Wendefurth Dam near Wendefurth in the Harz mountains of central Germany. The power station has an upper reservoir on the mountain top which stores the water. The two penstocks have a diameter of 3.4 metres (11 ft). The two installed Francis pump turbines can deliver 80 MW. As of 2012 the plant has since its commissioning in 1967 produced 4,105 GWh, corresponding to an average annual production of 91 GWh.

Hüttenrode is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the town Blankenburg am Harz.

The Rappbode Dam (German: Rappbode-Talsperre) is the largest dam in the Harz region as well as the highest dam in Germany. Together with several other dams and retention basins, it forms the flood protection system for the eastern Harz.

The Böser Kleef is a rock formation, 440 metres above sea level, near the village of Altenbrak in the district of Harz in central Germany. It is made largely of granite. The Böser Kleef can be reached on foot from several directions including a footpath from Forsthaus Todtenrode. It lies above the Bode valley in woods. In the second half of the 20th century a refuge hut was built at the top. From the crag there are views of Altenbrak and the surrounding woods. There is also a checkpoint (No. 64) of the Harzer Wandernadel hiking network on the Böser Kleef.

Treseburg is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 July 2009, it is part of the town Thale.

The Bielstein Tunnel (German: Bielsteintunnel) is a disused railway tunnel in Saxony-Anhalt in the Harz Mountains of Central Germany. The tunnel is 465.7 metres long and lies between the zig zag of Michaelstein and Braunesumpf. It belonged to the Erzstufen Railway and, from 1885, to the Harz Railway (today the Rübeland Railway). During the construction of the Harz Railway the tunnel profile was widened and Braunesumpf station laid out. When the Rübeland Railway was electrified from 1960 to 1965 the tunnel profile had to be widened again. In addition the tunnel was found to be in poor condition so that it was abandoned and the line was relaid further east through a cutting. The tunnel is no longer accessible today.

The Jagdschloss Windenhütte is an historic former hunting lodge now serving as a hotel and daytrippers' restaurant in the Harz Mountains of central Germany.

The Ziegenkopf is a hill, 400.7 m above sea level (NN), near Blankenburg in the Harz mountains in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The Luisenburg was a small palace that existed from 1728 to 1945 near Blankenburg (Harz) in central Germany. It was built in 1728 on the Calviusberg hilltop above Blankenburg Castle as a belvedere for Duchess Christine Louise of Brunswick, and was named after her. The Luisenburg was a single-storey timber-framed building with an octagonal hall surrounded by eight small rooms. In 1945 it was demolished due to its advanced state of dilapidation. Today there are some remains of the exterior walls and its staircase. A refuge hut, that also serves as checkpoint no. 77 on the hiking trail network of the Harzer Wandernadel, stands on the site of the Luisenburg. From the Calviusberg there is a good view of the northern Harz Foreland including the settlements of Cattenstedt and Timmenrode.A refuge hut, which also houses checkpoint no. 77 in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking network, stands on the site of the Luisenburg.

Great Blankenburg Castle (German: Schloss Blankenburg) was built on the limestone hill of Blankenstein (305 m above sea level (NN)) in the town of Blankenburg in the district of Harz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Nearby is the Little Castle with its Baroque garden, tea house and museum, the town wall, the pheasant garden, the castle park and the castle pond.
