Bassendean is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based in the eastern suburbs of Perth. It is a safe Labor seat.

Kiara is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, situated approximately 11 kilometres (7 mi) northeast of Perth's central business district and 8 kilometres (5 mi) from Midland, and located within the City of Swan local government area. Schools in Kiara are Kiara College and Good Shepherd Catholic School.

Lockridge is a suburb of Perth, in the Bassendean division of Western Australia, and the City of Swan local government area. Land was first granted in the area to Edward Hamersley in 1837. Its name is derived from that of Lockeridge House, a property built by his son, Samuel Hamersley, in 1874. Part of what is now Lockridge, which became the Pyrton Estate, was bought by the Western Australian government during the Soldier settlement scheme in the 1920s. In 1969, the State Housing Commission purchased 240 acres (97 ha) to begin residential development in the area. An urban renewal project was undertaken in the late 1990s.At the 2016 Australian census the suburb had a population of 3,467.Local amenities include Rosher Park, Kiara College, Lockridge Primary School, and the Alice Daveron Community Centre. The Swan Valley Nyungah Community was in the area.

The Bassendean Fire Station, at 10-14 Parker Street, Bassendean, Western Australia, is a historic fire station. It is a one-storey brick and tile building, with elements of Inter-War Stripped Classical architecture styling, from its construction in 1934 and expansion in 1969–71. The listing included outbuildings and a ladder training tower at the rear.The station closed in 2013, after the Department of Fire and Emergency Services moved services to Kiara.It was listed by the Heritage Council on the State Register of Western Australia.

The Town of Bassendean is a local government area in the northeastern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth, 6 kilometres (4 mi) west of the industrial centre of Midland and about 12 kilometres (7 mi) northeast of Perth's central business district. The Town covers an area of 10.4 square kilometres (4.0 sq mi), maintains 97 km of roads and had a population of approximately 15,000 as at the 2016 Census. The Town of Bassendean is a member of the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council.

Bassendean (once referred to as West Guildford) is a north-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the Town of Bassendean.It is also the name of the sand dune system on the Swan Coastal Plain known as the Bassendean Dune System.

Bassendean Oval currently known as Steel Blue Oval for sponsorship reasons, is a sports stadium, located in Bassendean, Western Australia. The capacity of the venue is 22,000 people. It usually hosts Australian rules football matches and is the home of WAFL and WAWFL Swan Districts Football Club.The record crowd is 22,350, for a WAFL match between Swan Districts and West Perth in 1980.The stadium played host to the Big Day Out in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001 and the Soundwave Festival show in March 2009 and 2010.

On the internet and social media, it has been referred in variants with qualifiers of the location name such as the Bassendean Rail Museum and Rail Heritage Museum Bassendean.The standard name is currently utilised as the Railway Museum.
