Stockland Shellharbour (previously known as Shellharbour Square) is a large indoor/outdoor shopping centre in the Shellharbour City Centre of the Illawarra region.

Shellharbour City Centre is the central business district of the City of Shellharbour, located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia (not to be confused with the suburb, Shellharbour). Its name reflects its status as the commercial and administrative centre for the City of Shellharbour local government area, and is home to the Council Administration Centre (located in the Civic Centre), Stockland Shellharbour shopping centre, cinemas and other retail shops. In recent years, apartment buildings have become more common within the district. The suburb was planned and developed to be the commercial heart of the local government area. The concept was developed in the 1970s by council in conjunction with the New South Wales Department of Planning. Planning and development has since been undertaken by council in partnership with Landcom, in an area of land that was formerly part of Blackbutt.

Flinders is a southern suburb of Shellharbour, located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Flinders is located approximately 111 kilometres south-southwest of New South Wales' capital city of Sydney. Flinders is close to a number of beaches and to and over 60 hectares of green open spaces including bush reserves, waterways and landscaped parks. Flinders adjoins neighbouring suburbs of Shellharbour, Shell Cove, Blackbutt and Shell Heights. The area is served by the Shellharbour Junction railway station which replaced the previous Dunmore railway station on 22 November 2014 . It was initially intended to call the new station Flinders. Premier Illawarra operates one bus route between Flinders and the railway station, namely route 52 to Shellharbour Junction railway station.

Shellharbour Hospital is a major district hospital located in the Shellharbour area of New South Wales. It is part of the Southern network of the South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service, and receives students from the University of New South Wales and University of Wollongong.

Balarang is a suburb of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, located on the southern shore of Lake Illawarra. It is officially designated an urban place, and forms the eastern end of the suburb of Oak Flats. The name is said to mean "place of swamp oak".

Oak Flats railway station is a single-platform intercity train station located in Oak Flats, New South Wales, Australia, on the South Coast railway line. The station serves NSW TrainLink trains travelling south to Kiama and north to Wollongong and Sydney. Together with the Dunmore and later Shellharbour Junction stations, Oak Flats has long served as the rail connection for the coastal suburbs of the City of Shellharbour.

Barrack Heights is a suburb of the City of Shellharbour in New South Wales, Australia in the local government area of the same name. Many institutions are located in Barrack Heights, including Shellharbour Public Hospital, Shellharbour Private Hospital, Warilla Bowling Club, Warilla Sports Club and Warilla High School. Barrack Heights is surrounded by the suburbs of Barrack Point, Blackbutt, Mount Warrigal, Oak Flats, Shellharbour, Shellharbour City Centre and Warilla.

Warilla High School is a government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located in Barrack Heights, a suburb of the City of Shellharbour, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia.Established in 1965, the school caters for approximately 1,250 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom eight percent identified as Indigenous Australians and 16 percent were from a language background other than English. The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education.

Shellharbour Junction railway station is a railway station located at Dunmore, New South Wales, Australia, on the Illawarra railway line. The station is served by NSW TrainLink South Coast Line trains traveling south to Kiama and north to Wollongong and Sydney. Premier Illawarra operates a connecting bus service from the station to Shellharbour.

Oak Flats is a suburb of Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia situated on the south western shores of Lake Illawarra and within the Illawarra region of New South Wales. It is a residential area, which had a population of 6,415 at the 2016 census.Oak Flats is one of the 324 suburbs that sits within the Wollongong Statistical District, which covers the local authority areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama. Corpus Christi Catholic High School (CCCHS) is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational secondary day school, located in Oak Flats, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Founded in 2006, the school is operated by the Wollongong Catholic Education Office in its service of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wollongong. The school is registered by the NSW Board of Studies as an accredited Year 7 to Year 12 high school.The school was designed Glanville Architects and built by One Build, Wide Form, and funded by the Australian Commonwealth and NSW governments and Catholic Authorities.

Shellharbour Anglican College is a co-educational Anglican school operated by the Sydney Anglican Schools Corporation. It opened in 2004 and accommodates pupils from Preschool to Year 12. The college operates in new, mostly permanent buildings in a semi-rural setting off Shellharbour Road, Dunmore. The school is located in Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia. Shellharbour Anglican College currently has over 850 students.
