Drei Annen Hohne

Drei Annen Hohne station is a branch-off station on the Harz Railway and the Brocken Railway.

The Mandelholz Dam (German: Mandelholztalsperre) holds back the Kalte Bode Flood Control Basin (Hochwasserschutzbecken Kalte Bode) which is a flood protection reservoir located between the villages of Elend and Königshütte near Wernigerode in the Harz mountains of Germany. It impounds the waters of the Kalte Bode when water levels are high. The dam was built from 1952 to 1957 and consists of an earth-fill dam with integrated concrete inspection walkway. In order to protect the crest from overspill, a spillway has been constructed south of it to handle excess water. The last time the dam was overspilled due to high water was in 1994. The height of the dam is variously given as 26 m (probably height above valley floor) or 28.4 m (probably structural height). Near Mandelholz on the Wormke (to the rear of the Mandelholz Dam) are the ruins of an older dam that supplied the Mandelholz Iron Works with water from 1612. Catastrophic flooding in 1855 destroyed the dam and it was not rebuilt. The name Mandelholz as a place name may be derived from the spruce forests in the area, because spruce trees used to be called Mandel in German.

The Ottofels ("Otto Rock"), named after Prince Otto of Stolberg-Wernigerode, is a tor and natural monument near Wernigerode in the Harz mountains of central Germany. The Ottofels or Ottofelsen lie about 2.5 km southwest of Hasserode in the borough of Wernigerode. It can only be reached on foot, either from the Steinerne Renne halt on the Harz Railway and Brocken Railway or from the car park at the junction of the Thumkuhle and Dränge valleys not far from the road to Drei Annen Hohne. The rocks stand at a height of 584 metres above sea level and are 36 metres high. They are made of coarse-grained granite and have been weathered to form a tor. On 27 July 1892 there was a ceremony to mark the completion of public access to the top, which consisted of several iron ladders. These ladders were replaced after the Wende in 1990. In addition the Ottofels is used for rock climbing by mountaineers. From the summit there is a panoramic view of the mountains and valleys of the Harz as far as its highest peak, the Brocken, and far over the northern Harz Foreland. The Ottofels is checkpoint no. 27 in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking network.

The Trudenstein is a rock formation and popular hiker's destination in the Harz Mountains of central Germany. It is located in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The Hohnekamm or Hohne Kamm is a mountain ridge up to 900 m above sea level high in the Harz mountains of central Germany. It is located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, and is well known for its rock towers or tors, the Hohneklippen.

Königshütte Waterfall (German: Königshütter Wasserfall) is a waterfall in the village of Königshütte in the borough of Oberharz am Brocken in the Harz Mountains of Central Germany. The waterfall has a relatively low volume and falls through a height of 12 metres (some sources give 15 or 20 metres). The stream empties shortly thereafter into the Kalte Bode. The waterfall is man-made and was constructed in connexion with an old quarry in 1994. The Bundesstraße 27 federal road runs close by. The area around the waterfall has been turned into a small park area. At the top of the falls at the viewing point is checkpoint no. 40 in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking network.

The Elversstein in the Harz Mountains of Germany is a granite rock formation with a maximum elevation of 499 m above sea level (NN) on the Steinberg (ca. 525 m above NN) near Hasserode in the county of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt.

The Aufgeklärtes Glück Mine (German: Bergwerk Aufgeklärtes Glück) is an old mine, now closed, in the valley of Thumkuhlental in the Harz Mountains of Germany. It lies southwest of Hasserode, a village on the edge of the town of Wernigerode in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Nowadays, its exterior facilities form part of a nature and geological educational path that, thanks to the reconstruction of an old mine water management system (Wasserkunst), make a very graphic witness of the former mining activity at the foot of the Harz' highest mountain, the Brocken.

The Bockberg is a hill, 495 m above sea level (NN), near Königshütte in Harz district in the Harz mountains of central Germany. Since 1967 the hill and its surrounding area have been protected as a nature reserve. The Bockberg rises immediately north of a loop in the B 27 federal road at the village of Neue Hütte. On its southwestern slopes, part of a volcano, formed in the Devonian sea, can be seen. Rubble from keratophyre lava in a white, potash matrix, has built a volcanic breccia here, which contains veins of hematite. The plateau of the Bockberg is extensively karstified. Many rare flowers thrive on the fields of yellow oat-grass and semi-dry pasture, including the globe flower.
