Grays Lake (Illinois)

Grayslake is a commuter railroad station on Metra's Milwaukee District North Line in Grayslake, Illinois. The station is located on the corner of Lake Street and Saint Paul Street, 41 miles (66 km) from Chicago Union Station, the southern terminus of the line, and serves commuters between Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Grayslake is in zone I. As of 2018, Grayslake is the 103rd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 470 weekday boardings.As of December 12, 2022, Grayslake is served by 37 trains (17 inbound, 20 outbound) on weekdays, by 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. On weekdays, four inbound trains originate from here, and four outbound trains terminate here. Parking is available on both sides of the tracks, along the east side of Lake Street, the south side of St. Paul Street, and north of the intersection of St. Paul and Slusser Streets. Grayslake is the only station on the Fox Lake Subdivision with two tracks and two platforms. Because of this, Grayslake is used as a passing siding to allow trains to pass, and to allow a few midday trains to terminate here. Another Metra station in Grayslake is located on the North Central Service at Washington Street. No connection is available to Washington Street station, but the two lines do connect at Prairie Crossing.

The Grayslake Gelatin Factory is a defunct gelatin factory formerly owned by the Grayslake Gelatin Company, and is located in Grayslake, Illinois. It is locally known for its 80-foot-tall (24 m) smoke stack that still rises over the town, which has earned the nickname "Grayslake's Hollywood Sign".

Grayslake Central High School (also known as Grayslake Central or GCHS) is a public four-year high school located in Grayslake, Illinois and is part of Grayslake Community High School District 127. Founded in 1946, the school services the Chicago suburbs of Grayslake, Hainesville, and parts of Round Lake. The school's mascot is the Ram. Round Lake Park is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 7,680. It is located along the south side of the lake, Round Lake. Access to the lake from this town is private and only for residents of Round Lake Park.

The College of Lake County, commonly referred to as CLC, is a public community college in Lake County, Illinois. CLC's primary campus is located in Grayslake and two other campuses exist in nearby Waukegan and Vernon Hills. It is located in the greater Chicago metro area and sits about 46 miles north of the city. In 1967, a referendum passed establishing the CLC community college district and classes began in 1969.
