Rivière-des-Prairies station is a commuter rail station operated by Exo in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is served by the Mascouche line.The station is located parallel to Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis at the corner of Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Rivière-des-Prairies. Two tracks run through the station, but only one is served by the station's single low-level side platform on the north side of the tracks. There is no station building, with the platform exiting directly onto the sidewalk. The station is wheelchair accessible. The station's parking lot and bus terminus are located across Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis from the station. A sculpture by Gilles Mihalcean entitled J'arrive is located in the parking lot.

Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles is a suburban borough (arrondissement) on the eastern tip of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located at the eastern end of the Island of Montreal.

The Montreal Refinery is an oil refinery located in the city of Montreal inside the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough. The refinery is not far from the Montreal East Refinery. This refinery is the largest Suncor Energy refinery.

LaFontaine is a provincial electoral district in Montreal, Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It consists of the neighbourhood of Rivière-des-Prairies in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles. It was created for the 1966 election from a part of Bourget electoral district. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. From 1992 to 2001, the riding also included the northern half of Pointe-aux-Trembles. It was named after the First Prime Minister of the United Province of Canada, Louis-Hippolyte Lafontaine.

La Pointe-de-l'Île (French pronunciation: [la pwɛ̃t də lil]) is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. Its population in 2001 was 98,878. The riding was created in 2003 from parts of Anjou—Rivière-des-Prairies, Hochelaga—Maisonneuve, and Mercier ridings.

Montreal East (in French: Montréal-Est) is an on-island suburb in southwestern Quebec, Canada, on the island of Montreal. Montreal-Est has been home to many large oil refineries since 1915.

Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles–Montréal-Est was a borough in the eastern end of Montréal, Québec. The borough was located at the eastern tip of the Island of Montréal. It was composed of parts of the City of Montreal prior to the January 1, 2002 municipal mergers, and the formerly independent municipality of Montréal-Est, Quebec. This was the only borough in the post-merger city that fused parts of the original city of Montréal with other former municipalities. In the June 20, 2004 referendum, Montréal-Est voted to return to being an independent municipality as of January 1, 2006. The other two portions become the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles.

The Montreal East Refinery (French: Raffinerie de Montréal-Est) was an oil refinery located in Montreal East and formerly Shell Canada's largest refinery. In October 2010, refinery operations permanently ceased and the facility was subsequently converted into a storage terminal.

Pointe-aux-Trembles was a municipality, founded in 1674, that was annexed by Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1982. This was the last city to be merged into Montreal until the 2002 municipal reorganization. On January 1, 2002 this neighbourhood at the far east end of the Island of Montreal became part of the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles–Montréal-Est. On January 1, 2006 Montreal East demerged, and the borough became Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles. One can find a windmill, at the corner of Notre-Dame Street and Third Avenue, which was built in 1719. Its three storeys make it the tallest windmill in Québec that still stands. In 1650 the Grou family of Rouen France established a land holding here.

Two tracks run through the station, but only one is in active service, served by a single low-level side platform on the north side of the tracks. The station has a single exit located on Rue Sherbrooke, with stair and elevator access to an enclosed walkway leading to the platform. As a result, the station is wheelchair-accessible. A shorter emergency exit platform is located on the south side of the tracks. The station's parking lot and bus loop are located on the south side of the tracks, requiring an approximately 400-metre detour to reach the platform. An artwork by Doyon-Rivest entitled Le Quotidien Fantastique consists of a series of brightly coloured motifs on the windows of the enclosed walkway between the station headhouse and the platform.

Pointe-aux-Prairies Nature Park is a large nature park in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The park is divided into three sections. The northern part is between Gouin Boulevard East and Autoroute 40. The central section is between Autoroute 40 and Sherbrooke Street East. The southern section is between Sherbrooke Street East and the Saint Lawrence River. Covering an area of 261 hectares (640 acres), the park features marshes, fields and forests.
