Horton-by-Malpas

St Mary's Church stands in an isolated position to the south of the village of Tilston, Cheshire, England. Chorlton Old Hall is a country house in the parish of Chorlton, Cheshire, England. The house was built in 1666, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed in red-brown brick, and has slate roofs. The house has a T-shaped plan. It formerly had an E-plan, but one wing has been demolished. The house is in 2½ storeys and its entrance front has four bays. The right-hand bay projects and has a shaped gable. The second bay is the entrance bay; this also projects and has a shaped gable, but is smaller. Dormer windows have been inserted in the roof in the first and third bays. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.

Situated to the west of the market town of Malpas, the main settlement in the parish is Chorlton Lane. Local landmarks Chorlton Hall (Grade II) and Chorlton Old Hall (Grade II*) are both listed buildings. In the 2001 census the civil parish had a population of 68, increasing to 124 at the 2011 census.

Shocklach Oviatt is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Shocklach Oviatt and District, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The parish of Shocklach comprised the townships Shocklach Oviatt, Church Shocklach and Caldecott. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 to form Shocklach Oviatt and District. Shocklach Oviatt is located approximately 16 kilometres from the border between Wales and England. Set beside the tributary of the River Dee between Wrexham (16 kilometres away) and Nantwich. The River Dee meanders alongside Shocklach Oviatt and is a major salmon and sea trout fishery; and one in which Shocklach fishery engages in. Salmon are most often caught in the sections lying between Shocklach up to Bala Lake.

Grafton is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Tilston, in the Cheshire West and Chester district and ceremonial county of Cheshire in England. In 2001 it had a population of 3. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 and merged into Tilston.

Chorlton Hall is a country house in the parish of Chorlton, Cheshire, England. It stands some 1.5 miles (2.4 km) northwest of Malpas. The house dates from the 17th century, with additions made in the second quarter of the 19th century. Its entrance front is pebbledashed and it stands on a stone plinth. The roof is slated. The house is in 2½ storeys plus cellars. Across the front are three bays, each with a gable, and with the central bay protruding. On the gables are ball finials. The porch has an ogee-arched entrance. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. A stable block and two cottages to the southeast of the house have also been designated at Grade II.

Shocklach Oviatt and District is a civil parish in the Cheshire West and Chester unitary authority, in the county of Cheshire, England. The parish was created in 2015, combining the previous civil parishes of Caldecott, Church Shocklach, Horton by Malpas and Shocklach Oviatt. Settlements in the parish include Caldecott Green, Shocklach, Horton Green, Castletown, Green Croft, Lane End, Little Green, Lordsfields, Port Green, Shocklach Green and The Saughans. It has a parish council, the lowest tier of local government. The 2015 mid-year estimate of the parish population was 310.

Shocklach is a village in the civil parish of Shocklach Oviatt and District, in the Cheshire West and Chester district, in the county of Cheshire, England. Shocklach village is in the southwestern corner of Cheshire, approximately 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) from the border between Wales and England, the River Dee. The village lies between Wrexham, 10 kilometres (6 mi) to the west, and Nantwich, 21 kilometres (13 mi) to the east.

Lower Carden Hall is a historic house in the civil parish of Carden, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. The oldest part of the house is the north wing which dates back to the 15th century, or earlier. A south cross-wing was added in the middle of the 16th century and the north wing was enlarged and re-fronted in the early 17th century. Alterations and additions were made to the rear of the house in the late 19th century. The major part of the house is timber-framed with oak frames and plaster panels on a sandstone plinth. The north end gable is built in stone and brick. The rear wing is of brick with steeply pitched grey slate roofs. On the north gable and on south wall of the cross-wing are massive projecting chimneys of stone and brick. The house was substantially restored in about 1984 with a brick inner skin and steelwork.

Castletown in the civil parish of Shocklach Oviatt and District, in Cheshire, England, is a deserted village located at SJ43885110 whose sole remains are earthworks. The site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The Bishop Bennet Way passes the site.

Overton Hall is a country house in the parish of Malpas (formerly Overton), Cheshire, England. The house originated in the middle of the 16th century on a moated site as a timber-framed great hall with a screens passage; it was built for the Alport family. The great hall has since been divided into two floors, and the house was externally refaced in the early 19th century by the Gregson family. Two of the faces of the house are timber-framed with painted brick nogging. The other faces are in brick with stone dressings. The roofs are slated with tiles on the ridges. The chimney stacks, porch and bay windows are in stone. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. To the south of the house is a stone bridge over the former moat dating from the 18th century. This is also listed at Grade II. Immediately to the east of the hall are the remains of a medieval and post-medieval settlement and field system that are recognised as a Scheduled Monument.
