Lake Palčje

Palčje (pronounced [ˈpaːltʃjɛ], in older sources Paličje, German: Palitschje) is a village east of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia.

The Littoral–Inner Carniola Statistical Region (Slovene: primorsko-notranjska statistična regija) is a statistical region in southwest Slovenia. Until January 1, 2015 it was named the Inner Carniola–Karst Statistical Region (Slovene: notranjsko-kraška statistična regija). The karst terrain, with Postojna Cave and intermittent Lake Cerknica, is the most important natural feature of this statistical region. This is one of the smallest statistical regions in Slovenia, and it is the least densely populated, with a population density six times lower than the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. The region is among the economically less developed ones in the country because in 2012 it contributed only 1.8% of Slovenia’s GDP. With an average of four employees per company, the enterprises in the region are among the smallest in Slovenia. In 2012, agriculture in this region generated around 6% of gross value added, which is one of the highest shares of gross value added by agriculture per individual region. In 2013, the average utilised agricultural area per farm was the highest in this region. The region has the highest employment rate in Slovenia (it was 59.9% in 2013), and the registered unemployment rate is among the lowest. The region also has the highest share of women in tertiary education (151 female students per 100 male students).

Klenik (pronounced [ˈkleːnik]) is a village east of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The local church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Leonard and belongs to the Parish of Trnje.

Drskovče (pronounced [dəɾˈskoːu̯tʃɛ]) is a village south of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The small church in the settlement is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows and belongs to the Parish of Zagorje.

Slovenska Vas (pronounced [slɔˈʋeːnska ˈʋaːs]; Slovene: Slovenska vas; previously Nemška vas, German: Deutschdorf) is a small village northeast of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. Traditional agricultural activity of the village is linked to growing potatoes and oats and raising cattle, as well as some orchard and beekeeping activity.

Parje (pronounced [ˈpaːɾjɛ]) is a small village southeast of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The local church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Justus and belongs to the Parish of Zagorje.

Kalec Castle (Slovene: Grad Kalec, originally Kalc or Kauc; German: Steinberg or Stemberg) is a partially ruined castle in Bač in Slovenia. The castle, of which only a single tower and some sections of wall survive intact, stands on a slope known as Breg, near the source of the Pivka River, at an elevation of 618 m. Illustrated in Valvasor's 1689 Glory of the Duchy of Carniola, it was built in the mid-17th century by the noble house of Steinberg. Its later owners included the Auersperg family and the Slovene composer Miroslav Vilhar, who also died in it. The castle was abandoned by its last residents after World War I, and began falling apart. In 1941 it hosted a meeting of the antifascist militant group TIGR. Today the Krpan Hiking Trail passes beside the ruins, which are surrounded by a copse of old linden trees. The path to the castle is bordered by a row of chestnut trees.

Juršče (pronounced [ˈjuːɾʃtʃɛ], formerly Jurišče, in older sources Juršiče, German: Jurschitz) is a village east of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia.

Radohova Vas (pronounced [ɾadɔˈxoʋa ˈʋaːs]; Slovene: Radohova vas, in older sources Rodohova vas, German: Rodockendorf, Italian: Rodoccova) is a formerly independent settlement in the town of Pivka in southwestern Slovenia. It is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Littoral–Inner Carniola Statistical Region.

Primož (pronounced ['pɾiːmɔʃ]) is a 718-meter (2,356 ft) high hill overgrown with trees, and is a part of a ridge separating the Pivka Basin from the Reka Valley. It is located in the Municipality of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It has many marked trails and a gravel road leading to its peak. There is a historical trail intended for tourists with many information signs around its peak. It served an important military role during the Second World War because it contained many tunnels and bunkers used by Italian army. It is named after Saints Primus and Felician Church, which was abandoned in the eighteenth century with practically no ruins remaining.

Zagorje (pronounced [zaˈɡoːɾjɛ]; German: Sagorje) is a village in the Municipality of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Helena and belongs to the Koper Diocese. The chapel at the cemetery, north of the settlement, is dedicated to Saint Paul.
