Clotton Hoofield

Huxley is a small rural village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Hargrave and Huxley, in the Cheshire West and Chester district, and ceremonial county of Cheshire in England. In 2001 the parish had a population of 220, increasing to 251 at the 2011 Census. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 It is home to Huxley Primary School.

The Huxley Hoard is a hoard of Viking jewellery from around 900-910 found buried near Huxley, Cheshire, England. It consists of 21 silver bracelets, one silver ingot, and 39 lead fragments, weighing around 1.5 kilograms (3.3 lb) in total. The bracelets might have been produced by Norse settlers in Dublin and possibly buried for safekeeping by Viking refugees settling in Cheshire and the Wirral in the early 900's. It was discovered by Steve Reynoldson in November 2004 after he found fragments of lead 30 centimetres (12 in) underground using a metal detector.The bracelets were folded flat, sixteen decorated by punched patterns, six with crosses stamped in their centre, and another six with centre cross and one at each end. Two have lattice patterns, one an hourglass stamp around the edge, one chevrons with central and end crosses, and one (found as a twisted bar) a zig-zag pattern; the remaining four are plain. The lead fragments suggest the hoard could have been buried either in a lead sheet or a lead-lined wood box.One of a cluster of hoards found in the Chester area, it was held by the British Museum until early 2007 before making a July 2007 debut at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. A Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £45,000 enabled its purchase by joint owners Grosvenor Museum, Cheshire Museums Service and National Museums Liverpool, who have it on display at the Museum of Liverpool. It was the subject of a book published by the National Museums Liverpool in 2010.

Duddon is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Duddon and Burton, in the unitary authority area of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is on the A51 road and is 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of the city of Chester. Local features include Duddon St. Peter's Church and St. Peter's Primary School. The church was erected in 1835 as a chapel of ease to the parish church at Tarvin. It was built in the early English style at a cost of £603 to the designs of William Railton. In 2011 the parish had a population of 655. The civil parish absorbed Burton on 1 April 2015, and on 1 July 2017 the new parish was renamed to Duddon and Burton.

Burton is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Duddon and Burton, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. In the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 50.

Burton Hall is in the small village of Burton, 2 miles (3 km) to the southeast of the larger village of Tarvin, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.The house dates from the early 17th century, and was built by John Werden. There have been some small 19th-century additions. It is built in brick with buff sandstone dressings, it has a Welsh slate roof, and four stone-capped brick chimneys. Its plan is square and the house has three storeys over a basement, with a symmetrical three-bay front. The entrance is approached by ten stone steps. The garden walls and gateway are separately listed at Grade II.The Rowton family purchased the building, which had fallen into considerable disrepair throughout the late 20th century, in 2006 and carried out an extensive restoration programme. In 2018, they advertised a raffle in which participants could buy tickets for £5 and have the chance of winning the house.

Duddon and Burton is a civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The parish is formed of the villages of Duddon and Burton.

Duddon Old Hall is a country house in the village of Duddon, Cheshire, England. It dates from the later part of the 16th century, the house was in the ownership of the Done family at this time. Alterations and additions were made in the early 19th century, and later in the century the timber framing was restored in 1903–4 and these works may be associated to local architect John Douglas of Chester. The timber framing was most recently extensively repaired between September 2021 and April 2022. It is constructed partly in timber-framing, and partly in brick, on a stone plinth. It is roofed partly in stone-slate, and partly in Welsh slate. The plan consists of a hall with a cross wing. The house is in two storeys, and its south front has four bays. The bay at the left end is timber-framed; it projects and has a gable with a bargeboard. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner comments that the black-and-white decoration of this bay is "very rich". It consists of studding in the ground floor, lozenges and shaped balusters in the upper floor, and lozenges and serpentine struts in the gable. In the adjacent bay is a wooden doorcase with a triangular pediment. All the windows are casements. Internally, the main chamber is in the cross wing, which is open to the roof. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. To the northeast of the house is a 16th-century barn, constructed in timber-framing with brick infill, which is also listed at Grade II.

Lower Huxley Hall is a moated manor house in Cheshire, England, located about 6.5 miles (10 km) southeast of Chester. It lies roughly halfway between the villages of Huxley (to the southeast) and Hargrave (to the southwest), It dates from the late 15th century, with major additions and alterations in the 17th century. A small addition was made to the rear in the 19th century. It was originally a courtyard house, but only two wings remain. The house is designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building.

Brassey Green is a small rural village near Tarporley, in Tiverton and Tilstone Fearnall civil parish, within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. Brassey Green Hall is a two storeyed, 16th century farmhouse and a designated Grade II listed building. It is timber-framed with wattle and daub and rendered brick infill and a slate roof. The 18th century Brassey Green Baptist Chapel is also Grade II listed. Constructed with red brick and a Welsh slate roof, it was restored from 1983 after falling into disrepair. Although no longer a place of worship, it has since been used occasionally by youth groups.

Iddinshall is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Clotton Hoofield, in the Cheshire West and Chester district and ceremonial county of Cheshire in England. In 2001 it had a population of 42. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 and merged into Clotton Hoofield.The parish contained one listed building, Iddinshall Hall, which is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. This is a brick farmhouse dating from the 18th century. To the southeast of the building is a moated site, formerly occupied by a building also known as Iddenshall Hall, which had been demolished by 1810. The site is a scheduled monument.

Newton is a settlement and as Newton-by-Tattenhall a former civil parish, now in the parish of Tattenhall and District in the Cheshire West and Chester district, and ceremonial county of Cheshire in England. In 2011 it had a population of 131, up from 116 in 2001. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 to form Tattenhall and District, part also went to Hargrave and Huxley.

Tattenhall Road railway station was a railway station situated a mile to the north of the village of Tattenhall, Cheshire on the Chester and Crewe Railway that was built in 1840 linking Chester to the north-west with Crewe to the south-east. The track now forms part of the North Wales Coast Line. The station was named Tattenhall Road in 1872 to distinguish it from another Tattenhall railway station, a little to the west of the village, on the Whitchurch and Tattenhall Railway branch line to Whitchurch. The station took back the name Tattenhall when the branch line closed in 1957. It was then itself closed in 1966. The station building still exists, now as a private house.
