Madison is a town located in Rockingham County, North Carolina. At the 2020 census, the town had a total population of 2,132. Madison is part of the Greensboro-High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area of the Piedmont Triad metro region. It was home to the corporate headquarters of Remington Arms until 2020, when the company was made defunct by bankruptcy proceedings. It is still home to Marlin Firearms, which was an asset of Remington now owned by Sturm, Ruger & Co.

Washington Mills-Mayodan Plant, also known as Mayo Mills, Washington Group-Mayodan Plant, and Tultex Corp.-Mayodan Plant, was a historic textile mill and national historic district located at Mayodan, Rockingham County, North Carolina. It encompassed four contributing buildings and two contributing structures in the town of Mayodan. The main spinning mill was built in 1895, and was a three-story, rectangular brick structure with a low-pitched gable roof. The mill was expanded several times between 1897 and 1954. It featured a four-story, one bay, tower with an open belfry at the top. Also on the property were the contributing knitting mill (1911), transformer house (c. 1900), railroad underpass, railroad spur, and frame wood shed. The mill closed in 1999. The mill buildings were demolished in 2012. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Mayodan is a town in Rockingham County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is a manufacturing site for Sturm, Ruger & Co., Bridgestone Aircraft Tire, and formerly General Tobacco (ceased operations 2010). Washington Mills Company, later Tultex, operated a textile mill in Mayodan until 1999. The town is named for two rivers that converge nearby, the Mayo and the Dan, and, according to Ripley's Believe It or Not!, is the only town in the world with this name.

The First Baptist Church of Madison, originally called Madison Missionary Baptist Church, is a historic Baptist church located in downtown Madison, North Carolina. The congregation of the church is Missionary Baptist, and under the jurisdiction of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. The church, built in 1850, served both the white planter and the black enslaved populations of Madison during the Antebellum era.

Academy Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Madison, Rockingham County, North Carolina, United States. It encompasses 12 contributing buildings in the town of Madison. It was developed from the mid-19th to mid-20th century, and includes notable examples of a variety of popular architectural styles. Notable buildings include the Twitchell-Gallaway House (1824), Foy-McAnally House (c. 1840, 1852), Cardwell-Black House (c. 1860), Churchill House, Martin House (c. 1870), Madison United Methodist Church (early 1900s), Pratt-Van Noppen House, and Wakeham (1921). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Alfred Moore Scales Law Office is a historic law office building located at Madison, Rockingham County, North Carolina. It was built in 1856, and moved to its present location in the 1920s. It is a one-story gable-roofed frame structure sheathed in plain weatherboarding. It was the law office of Alfred Moore Scales, lawyer, American Civil War veteran, politician and governor of North Carolina from 1885–1890. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Mayo River State Park is a North Carolina state park in Rockingham County, North Carolina in the United States. It covers 2,778-acre (11.24 km2) along the Mayo River, and it adjoins a Virginia State Park of the same name. North Carolina's park is near Mayodan, North Carolina. The park is one of the newest in the North Carolina system, having been authorized by the General Assembly in May 2003.

Pine Hall, also known as Anderson-Hanes House, is a historic plantation house located at Pine Hall, Stokes County, North Carolina. It was built in 1859, and is a two-story, three bay by two bay, Greek Revival style brick dwelling. The front facade features a one-story portico with a hip roof and paired heavy Doric order pillars. Also on the property are a number of contributing outbuildings and a family cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Pine Hall is an unincorporated community in Stokes County, North Carolina, United States, approximately ten miles southwest of county seat Danbury, near Belews Lake. Danbury and Sandy Ridge are to the north, with Stokesdale to the east. Kernersville and Walkertown are to the south, with Winston-Salem to the southwest. Walnut Cove and Germanton are located to the west. On March 20, 1998, a EF-1 tornado touched down briefly in the northern part of Pine Hall, north of Route 311 near Morning Star Baptist Church. The walls were knocked from the foundation of the church and windows were blown out because of the pressure. Trees were also knocked and blown over and 3 people were injured. It was on the ground for 1.5 miles before lifting near the Stokes/Rockingham County line. This tornado and system would eventually become the Stoneville Tornado from the 1998 Gainesville-Stoneville tornado outbreak. Pine Hall, a historic plantation house, bearing the same name was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.In 1922, Flake Steele took over Consolidated Brick Co. and bought hundreds of acres containing Triassic shale. Pine Hall Brick Co. moved its offices to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, two years later. In 2021, the company has two plants in Madison, North Carolina, and two in Fairmount, Georgia, and sells its brick products in 35 U.S. states and in other countries.

Belews Lake is a reservoir in Stokes, Rockingham, Guilford and Forsyth counties of North Carolina, near the towns of Stokesdale and Pine Hall. It was created in 1973 by the Duke Energy corporation as a cooling basin for the corporation's Belews Creek Steam Station, a coal-burning power plant. There are 4 public boat ramps on the lake, with 2 being commissioned by the North Carolina Wildlife Resorces Commission (NCWRC). Piney Bluff is located on the southern part of the lake, in Forsyth County, with entrance on NC Highway 65. Pine Hall Boat Launch is the closest to the plant, located in Stokes County, with the ramp being located on the west-northwest part of the lake, with entrance from Pine Hall Rd. Carolina Marina is located in the northern part of the lake, in Rockingham County, with a fee for use. Humphreys Ridge has a boat ramp located on the eastern side of the lake, in Rockingham County. The power plant can be seen from the ramp. Cooling water was pumped back and forth between the plant and reservoir until 1986 when the corporation decided to use other methods to dispose of their coal ash waste. From 1974-1986, contaminants such as vanadium, nickel, cobalt, barium, arsenic, were introduced into the lake through the release of contaminated cooling water from the power plant back into the lake. Many scientific studies were undertaken at Belews Lake and their findings, along with those conducted at the Kesterson Reservoir, are fundamental to today's understanding of the ecological risks associated with elevated selenium concentrations in aquatic systems.
