North Lenoir High School is a public high school in La Grange, North Carolina serving grades 9–12. It was created as part of school consolidation of Contentnea, Wheat Swamp and La Grange schools in 1964. The school reports 100 percent of its students are economically challenged. In 2024, 40.6 percent of the student body was white, 39.3% was black and 15.9 percent Hispanic. It won back to back state championships in basketball. The school's mascot was originally a buccaneer and then a hawk. The school colors are black and white. The school is part of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and its teams compete in the 2A Conference. The school won state baseball championships in 2005 and 2006. The football coach resigned in 2022 after a rough season. Alumni include Daniel Leon Morgan who played basketball professionally in Finland. A tenth grader won a national essay contest in 2020. She was the first ever winner from North Carolina.

Fort Neoheroka (or just Neoheroka, Neyuherú·kęʼ in Tuscarora), or Nooherooka, is the name of a stronghold constructed in what is now Greene County, North Carolina by the Tuscarora tribe during the Tuscarora War of 1711–1715. In March 1713, the fort was besieged and ultimately attacked by a colonial force consisting of an army from the neighboring Province of South Carolina, under the command of Colonel James Moore and made up mainly of Indians including Yamasee, Apalachee, Catawba, and Cherokee. The 1713 siege lasted for more than three weeks, from around March 1 to March 22, 1713. Hundreds of men, women and children were burned to death in a fire that destroyed the fort. Approximately 170 more were killed outside the fort while approximately 400 were taken to South Carolina where they were sold into slavery. The defeat of the Tuscaroras, once the most powerful Indian tribe in the Province of North Carolina, opened up North Carolina's interior to further settlement. The supremacy of the Tuscaroras in the colony was broken forever, and most moved north to live among the Iroquois. On July 17, 2009, the Fort Neoheroka Site was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Snow Hill is a town in Greene County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,595 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Greene County and is part of the Greenville Metropolitan Area. Snow Hill hosts numerous tennis tournaments during the year. Snow Hill is home to the Green Ridge Racquet Club. Many junior players and adults travel to Snow Hill in order to play in the USTA (United States Tennis Association) Sanctioned tournaments.

Snow Hill Colored High School, also known as Greene County Colored Training School and Rosenwald Center for Cultural Enrichment, is a historic Rosenwald School building located at Snow Hill, Greene County, North Carolina. It was built in 1925, and is a one-story, seven-bay, H-shaped brick building. A six classroom addition was built about 1935. Also on the property are the contributing Mary M. Battle Monument (c. 1925) and baseball field (c. 1935, c. 1950). The Snow Hill Colored High School is one of five schools that were constructed using Rosenwald funds in Greene County, including the Zachariah School.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located at SE 4th Street and St. Barnabas Road in Snow Hill, Greene County, North Carolina. It was built in 1887, and is a small, rectangular, Carpenter Gothic style frame building. It sits on a low brick foundation and has a steep gable roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The district encompasses 229 contributing buildings, a contributing site (St. Barnabas Church Cemetery), two contributing structures, and a contributing object (Clara Ernart gravestone) in the central business district and surrounding residential sections of Snow Hill. The buildings are in a variety of popular 19th and early-20th century architectural styles including Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Colonial Revival, and, Bungalow / American Craftsman. Located in the district are the separately listed Greene County Courthouse and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Other notable buildings include J. Exum & Co. Grocery building, Harper Drugstore, Sugg-Harper House, Williams-Exum Housem, Murphrey-Morrill House (1885), Josiah Exum House (1887-1888), Alfred Warren House (1912-1915), Calvary Memorial Methodist Church (1928), Snow Hill Presbyterian Church (1935), and former First Baptist Church (1850, 1940).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, with a boundary increase in 2009.

It was built in 1935, and is a two-story, conservative Classical Revival style brick building. The front facade features a Doric order pedimented portico. The building was constructed under the Works Project Administration.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Snow Hill Historic District.

The district includes an orphanage owned by the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina and constructed from 1914 to 1959. Located in the district is the separately listed Federal style Cedar Dell plantation home. Other contributing resources are the Jar Room/Shop (1920s), potato curing barn (1920s), Pollock Cottage (1936), Kennedy Memorial Home Baptist Church (1956), Jones Swimming Pool (1957), Cedar Dell Cemetery (1830s-1929), and Brogden Food Locker (1950s).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
