The Trieste Courthouse (Palazzo di Giustizia) is a building located on Via Foro Ulpiano in Trieste, Italy.

The Synagogue of Trieste (Italian: Tempio Israelitico di Trieste) is a Jewish house of worship located in the city of Trieste, northern Italy.

The Trieste National Hall or Slovene Cultural Centre (Slovene: Narodni dom), also known as the Hotel Balkan, in Trieste was a multimodal building that served as a centre for the Slovene minority in the city. It included the Slovene theatre in Trieste, a hotel and numerous cultural associations. It is notable for having been burned in 1920 by Italian Fascists, which made it a symbol of the Italian repression of the Slovene minority in Italy. The building was restored from 1988 to 1990.

Caffè San Marco is a historic café in Trieste, Italy founded in 1914 that became famous as a rendezvous for intellectuals and writers including Italo Svevo, James Joyce and Umberto Saba, a tradition that continues to date with Claudio Magris. It is located in via Battisti 18. A meeting point for Trieste's irredentists, the café was destroyed by Austro-Hungarian troops during the first World War but was reopened when hostilities ended. The interiors reflect the Vienna Secession style popular when the café was founded. Part of the frescos are attributed to Vito Timmel. The café is owned by Italy's largest insurance company (also based in Trieste), Assicurazioni Generali. Italians campaigned to save the historic café in 2013 and it has now been restored, incorporating a bookshop.

The Church of Sant'Antonio Taumaturgo (commonly known as the Church of Sant'Antonio Nuovo), is the main religious building in the Borgo Teresiano in the centre of Trieste as well as the city's largest Catholic church. It stands on a square also known as Sant’Antonio Nuovo, at the end of the Grand Canal.The building project dates back to 1808, but work only began in 1825. The church has a facade of ionic columns with six statues sculpted by Francesco Bosa in 1842, representing Saint Justus, Saints Sergius and Bacchus, Saint Servulus, Saint Maurus, Saint Euphemia and Saint Tecla.

Trieste Centrale railway station (IATA: TXB) (Italian: Stazione ferroviaria di Trieste Centrale; German: Triest Südbahnhof (former name) is the main station serving the city and municipality (comune) of Trieste, in the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeastern Italy. Opened in 1857, the station is a terminus for direct lines to Venice, Udine and Vienna, and for the belt line leading to Trieste's marshalling yard, near the now closed Trieste Campo Marzio railway station.Trieste Centrale is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Train services to and from the station are operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.

The Jewish Museum “Carlo and Vera Wagner", is located in via del Monte 5/7, Trieste, Italy. It was inaugurated in 1993, by the initiative of Mario Stock together with the generous support of the Wagner-de Polo family.

Politeama Rossetti is an Italian theatre situated in the city of Trieste. With over 60 shows scheduled each season, running from October to June, its stage shows include plays, musicals, ballet, dance and rock concerts. It is the home of Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia, one of Italy's major public theatres. The artistic director is Antonio Calenda. The theatre was built in 1878 and designed by Nicolò Bruno. It was heavily restored in 1928, 1969 and 1999. While the original capacity was over 5,000, it can now sit 1,531. In the recent years the theatre has specialised in the presentation of major West End and Broadway musicals, including the original productions of Cats in 2008, Mamma Mia!, The Rocky Horror Show and Chicago in 2009. In 2010 the theatre staged We Will Rock You, featuring the music of Queen, the acclaimed 50th anniversary production of West Side Story and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita. In 2011 the theatre hosted the Italian premieres of the musicals Chess and Spamalot.

The Canal grande (English: "Grand Canal") is a navigable canal located in the heart of the Borgo Teresiano, in the very center of the city of Trieste, approximately halfway between the railway station and Piazza Unità d'Italia.

The Trieste riots, traditionally called the Revolt of the flag (Italian: Rivolta della bandiera) of November 1953, were pro-Italian riots harshly repressed by the Venezia Giulia Police Force (often called the "Civil Police") under the command of the Allied Military Government (AMG), the Anglo-American allied military administration force headed by British General John Winterton.

The Race for Trieste (Italian: Corsa per Trieste), also known as the Trieste Operation (Slovene: Tržaška operacija), was a battle during the Second World War that took place during early May 1945. It led to a joint allied victory for the Yugoslav Partisans and 2nd New Zealand Division and a joint occupation of Trieste, but relations soon deteriorated and led to a nine-year dispute over the territory of Trieste. This battle is also considered the last battle in which a considerable force of Chetniks fought, as 13,000 of the irregular troops under Momčilo Đujić surrendered to the New Zealand forces under Lieutenant General Sir Bernard Freyberg as the battle progressed.
