Isla de la Convalecencia (lit. 'Island of Convalescence'), commonly known as simply Isla de Convalecencia (also spelled Isla de Convalescencia and sometimes erroneously called Isla de Convalencia), is a small narrow river island in the Pasig River in Manila, the Philippines. It is the only island dividing the Pasig River in Manila located between the districts of San Miguel on the north bank, and Ermita and Paco on the south. The island, best known as the location of the Hospicio de San José, is administratively part of San Miguel's Barangay 646, Zone 67. It has a total area of approximately 594 square meters (6,390 sq ft) and is connected to both sides of the river by the Ayala Bridge. Although the island is primarily occupied by the Hospicio, it also hosts a detachment of the Philippine Coast Guard that patrols the periphery of the Malacañang Palace complex located just northwest of the island on the north bank of the Pasig River. The island hosts the Hospicio’s small community which includes the 412 children, 64 special needs and 120 elderly residents.

Hospicio de San José is a Roman Catholic welfare institution in the City of Manila, the Philippines. It is the first social welfare agency in the country, and as a foster care institution has been a home for orphans, the abandoned, special needs, and the elderly.

The Teus Mansion is a historical residence situated in San Miguel, Manila, previously owned by Valentin Teus Yrissari, a Spanish businessman who arrived in the Philippines in 1847. The mansion was once a convent near the San Miguel Church in the district and has been in the possession of the Teus family since Teus's death in 1909. In 1974, First Lady Imelda Marcos acquired the mansion from Teus's daughter, Concepcion. She commissioned British interior designer Ronnie Laing and antique dealer Viring de Asis to restore the mansion in 1975, as a guest house. Since the People Power Revolution of 1986, the mansion has belonged to the Government of the Philippines but remained closed to the public. In 2023, the Teus Mansion underwent renovations overseen by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and has now been opened to the public as the new Presidential Museum, showcasing artifacts and memorabilia from past Presidents of the Philippines.

The Goldenberg Mansion is a historic residence built in the 1870s by the Eugsters, a Spanish merchant family. Later, it was revamped in a Moorish Revival style by Jose Moreno Lacalle, a Spanish colonial official and writer, using materials such as Philippine hardwood, pre-fabricated steel from Belgium, Italian marble, and bricks and tiles from Spain. Named after its subsequent owner, Michael Goldenberg, an American businessman who established the Goldenberg Department Store in Escolta. Following Goldenberg's death in 1963, the property was acquired by First Lady Imelda Marcos from his heirs. Subsequently, it became the offices of the Marcos Foundation and served as a guest house after undergoing extensive restoration by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin. Since the People Power Revolution of 1986, the mansion has been under the ownership of the Government of the Philippines but remained inaccessible to the public. In 2023, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos oversaw renovations, and the mansion has now reopened to the public as a cultural center and events space.

The Pope Pius XII Catholic Center is a religious facility in Manila, Philippines. It was designed by José María Zaragoza (1912-1994), a noted architect and National Artist of the Philippines.The facility was inaugurated on August 26, 1964. It has been used as a venue for plenary assemblies by Catholic bishops.The National Museum of the Philippines formally declared the facility as an important cultural property in 2024.

Adamson University (Filipino: Pamantasang Adamson; AdU or ADU) is a private Catholic university operated by the Congregation of the Mission located in Manila, Philippines. The university has academic programs in graduate school, law, the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, nursing, pharmacy, architecture, business administration, and education, as well as secondary, elementary, and preschool. It is one of the universities in the country to receive an autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education.Adamson University has been regularly included in the rankings of top universities in the Philippines. It was included in the top 201+ universities in Asia in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings in multiple occasions, most recently in 2022, where it placed 651+ mark. The university is a member of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. In its 80th season, the university won first place in the cheerdancing competition.

The Technological University of the Philippines (Filipino: Pamantasang Teknolohiya ng Pilipinas or Teknolohikal na Unibersidad ng Pilipinas) commonly known as TUP, is a coeducational state university in the Philippines. It was established in 1901 by the Philippine Commission. TUP has its main campus in Manila and satellite campuses in Taguig, Cavite, Visayas, Batangas, and Quezon.

The Royal Parish and National Shrine of Saint Michael and the Archangels (Spanish: Parroquia Real y Santuario Nacional de San Miguel y los Arcángeles), also known as San Miguel Church, is a Roman Catholic church of the Latin Rite dedicated to the archangels, namely, Saint Michael, Saint Gabriel, Saint Raphael .Its current location on the corner of Jose Laurel Street and General Solano Street in the San Miguel district was once the site of La Fábrica de Cerveza de San Miguel (now San Miguel Brewery).The shrine is also known as Malacañang Church as it is within the Malacañang Palace complex, the official residence of the president of the Republic of the Philippines. Presidents that have heard Mass at the shrine include Carlos P. García, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and Fidel V. Ramos (who was Protestant).San Miguel Church has around 1,500 regular parishioners, some of whom are descended from old, rich families in the district. It is also notably the only Catholic church in the country where priests (instead of bishops) have canonical dispensation to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation twice a week.

Asilo de San Vicente de Paul is an orphanage located on UN Avenue in Manila, Philippines. It is run by the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul.

San Vicente de Paul Church, also known as the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, is a Roman Catholic church located in Ermita, Manila, Philippines. The church was built in 1912. The Historical Research and Markers Committee listed it as a historic site by installing a historical marker in 1935. During the World War II, the church was badly damaged during the Battle of Manila in 1945. The damaged dome, belfries and roof were restored a year later.

The Santa Isabel College, also referred to by its acronym SIC, is a private, Roman Catholic college owned and operated by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent De Paul in Ermita, Manila, Philippines. It was founded on 24 October 1632. Santa Isabel College is one of the oldest colleges in the Philippines and in Asia.

The Philippine Normal University (PNU; Filipino: Pamantasang Normal ng Pilipinas) is a public coeducational teacher education and research university in the Philippines. It was established in 1901 through Act No. 74 of the Philippine Commission "for the education of natives of the Islands in the science of teaching". It has campuses in Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9647, it is the country's National Center for Teacher Education.In addition to the powers and functions provided for in its charter, the university is mandated to conduct researches, build and develop a database of education policies, and provide technical support to the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education, as well as assistance to the Congress of the Philippines, in the design and analysis of programs, projects, and legislative proposals concerning teacher training, teacher education, continuing professional education of teachers and academic supervisors, teacher education curricula, and other issues affecting teacher education.
