Camp JCA Shalom is a Jewish summer camp located in Malibu, California. The camp opened in 1951 in Barton Flats, California before moving to its current location in the Malibu mountains. The camp offers many activities to campers including a climbing wall, swimming, environmental education, a zip-line, sea kayaking, Native American skills, rappelling, canoeing, pioneer living, ropes course activities, water volleyball, gardening, mountain biking, beach trips, campcraft, Maccabiah Games, ceramics, archery, concerts, martial arts/Krav Maga, Gaga, Israeli days, digital photography, Ultimate Frisbee, campfires, Israeli dance, soccer, overnights, drama productions, and ping-pong. In addition to regular camp activities, Camp Shalom provides programming for older campers. For kids entering the 10th or 11th grades, they have the opportunity to enroll in the TASC (Teen Age Service Camp) program. In TASC, participants build projects around the camp that helps to improve the campus. Past projects include benches, an amphitheater, and even a petting zoo. In addition, there is a special program for kids entering 11th grade only called Kibbutz, where the campers spend four weeks living in the garden and learning about simple, pioneer style living that is common on a kibbutz in Israel. The counselor-in-training program is the place from which JCA gets most of its staff members. The counselors in training, all entering their senior years of high school, participate in a 5-week intensive program in which they do workshops in child development, Jewish programming, and leadership training to which they become sufficient to joining the other JCA staff members. The counselors in training have the opportunity, within those 5 weeks, to work with younger campers and learn about how to be an effective counselor and leader. This incredible program has been deemed a favorite by many who attend camp. It's an enriching and exciting experience, one generally embarked by former campers of JCA. This is the perfect way of giving back to camp. Camp JCA Shalom is also a popular filming location. Some movies and television shows that used the Camp Shalom campus for filming include The Simple Life, American Pie 2, Dog Eat Dog, and My Name is Earl.The camp was destroyed on November 9, 2018 by the Woolsey Fire and they are now in the process of rebuilding the camp.

Mulholland Highway is a scenic road in Los Angeles County, California, that runs approximately 50 miles through the western Santa Monica Mountains from near US Route 101 (Ventura Freeway) in Calabasas to Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) near Malibu at Leo Carrillo State Park and the Pacific Ocean coast – at the border of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Mulholland Highway is the western rural portion and, with the eastern Mulholland Drive portion, is a scenic route named after Los Angeles civil engineer William Mulholland and built throughout the 1920s "to take Angelenos from the city to the ocean". Only the segment of Mulholland Highway between Pacific Coast Highway and Kanan Dume Road, and through Malibu Creek State Park between Cornell Road and Las Virgenes Road, is officially recognized by the California Department of Transportation as under the California Scenic Highway System, meaning that it is a substantial section of highway passing through a "memorable landscape" with no "visual intrusions", where the potential designation has gained popular favor with the community.

God's Seat is a popular vista and rock formation in Malibu, California, United States, about two miles east of Circle X Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. God's Seat's name derives from its natural throne-like shape at the top of a thousand-foot cliff. It is well known locally for its scenic views of Lake Sherwood, Sandstone Peak, the Conejo Valley and the Pacific Ocean. The formation is visible from Yerba Buena Road, about two miles north of Mulholland Highway along the Backbone Trail. The California Hells Angels were supposedly once common fixtures at the site, which they nicknamed Smoker's Perch. The "seat of the throne" today is a floor of broken glass, though the site is now patrolled daily so as to prevent further vandalism.

Camp Bloomfield was a 45-acre (180,000 m2) campground in the Santa Monica Mountains near Malibu, California, United States. In 1958, Henry Bloomfield purchased the land, donating its use to the Foundation for the Junior Blind (now known as Wayfinder Family Services) to create a camp for children and youth who are blind, visually impaired or multi-disabled. As the largest of its kind in Western United States, Camp Bloomfield served hundreds of campers and family members free of charge each summer and was accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA). It was destroyed in the Woolsey fire on November 9, 2018.

The Triunfo Pass is a mountain pass in the Santa Monica Mountains, located on Yerba Buena Road in southeastern Ventura County, Southern California.Automobile access to Circle X Ranch Park, part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, is on the west side of the pass.The pass is the site of an earth station.

Lake Sherwood is an unincorporated community in the Santa Monica Mountains, in Ventura County, California overlooking Lake Sherwood reservoir. It is a body contact lake, swimming, fishing, SUP and boating allowed, located south of the Conejo Valley and city of Thousand Oaks, and west of Westlake Village. The lake is naturally fed by thousand of acres of open-space, watershed mountains and natural springs. While homes have been around the lake since the reservoir was created by the construction of Sherwood Dam in 1901, the community expanded with the development of the Sherwood Country Club golf course surrounded by luxury homes. The ZIP Code is 91361, and the community is inside area code 805. The population was 1,759 at the 2020 census. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Lake Sherwood as a census-designated place (CDP). The census definition of the area may not precisely correspond to local understanding of the area with the same name.

Wave House was designed by architect Harry Gesner for old friends and fellow surfers Gerry and Glenn Cooper. Located on the beach in Malibu, California, the house is Gesner's most famous work. The design was highly regarded by Jørn Utzon, architect of the Sydney Opera House. Though denied by Gesner, the house is often cited as an influence on Utzon's design for the opera house.

Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach is a state beach of California, located in northern Malibu, Southern California. The park is part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

The Invesco QQQ Championship is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour Champions, played at Sherwood Country Club in Lake Sherwood, California. The inaugural edition in October 2016 featured a 72-player field competing for a $2 million purse, and was a no-cut 54-hole event.

Sherwood Country Club is a private, member owned golf and country club in Lake Sherwood, California set at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains just south of city of Thousand Oaks. Sherwood is home to a championship 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, driving range and Georgian architecture golf clubhouse. Adjacent to the golf club is the tennis clubhouse, swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness facility and spa. There are a total of 12 tennis courts, including 8 hard courts (one with stadium seating), two clay courts and two grass courts. The tennis club also includes an outside sand volleyball court, all of which can be lit for night play. Sherwood was the host of multiple off-season events. It hosted the Shark Shootout, a team-play event hosted by Australian great Greg Norman, from the event's inception in 1989 to 1999. It then hosted the World Challenge, a PGA Tour-recognized golf tournament hosted by Tiger Woods each December, from 2000 to 2013. Sherwood was also the site of the Showdown at Sherwood, the first ever prime-time live golf match, which was played between Tiger Woods and David Duval in 1999. In 2016, Sherwood became the host of the Champions Tour event, the PowerShares QQQ Championship.In 2020, Sherwood hosted the Zozo Championship. The course was featured in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005.

Circle X Ranch is a park unit located in the Triunfo Pass within the southwestern Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, in Ventura County, California. It is located in the western Santa Monica Mountains.Sandstone Peak, the highest peak in the range, and Boney Peak, are in the park with trails to their summits. Views can include the Channel Islands, Mount Baldy, and the Topatopa Mountains. The park was formerly Camp Circle X, a Boy Scout camp. The northeast section is adjacent to the Boney Mountain Wilderness in Point Mugu State Park.

The Santa Monica Mountains is a coastal mountain range in Southern California, next to the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the Transverse Ranges. The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area encompasses this mountain range. Because of its proximity to densely populated regions, it is one of the most visited natural areas in California.
