Potterton, West Yorkshire

The Battle of Seacroft Moor took place in Whinmoor moor near the village of Seacroft, north-east of Leeds in West Riding on 30 March 1643 during the First English Civil War. In the battle, a Parliamentarian force commanded by Lieutenant-General Thomas Fairfax was decisively beaten by a Royalist cavalry force commanded by George Goring.

All Saints' Church in Barwick-in-Elmet, West Yorkshire, England is an active Anglican parish church in the archdeaconry of Leeds and the Diocese of Leeds.

Barwick-in-Elmet Castle was a fortification in the village of Barwick-in-Elmet, West Yorkshire, England to the east of Leeds (grid reference SE398375). The site of the castle was originally an Iron Age hill fort, the remains of which can be seen even today, and coins dating from the first and second century BC have been discovered in the area. The Romans constructed a bulwark on the northern part of the elevated ground that is nowadays known as Wendel Hill. The village was further developed and fortified during the Dark Ages and became known as the seat of the Kings of Northumberland during the heptarchy, who also housed their granary in the village. According to some sources it was Edwin, King of Northumberland who resided here. After the Norman Conquest the manor house and the lands were awarded to Ilbert de Lacy, the Earl of Lincoln who erected a motte and bailey fortification on a steep elevated hilltop, that came to be known as the Hall Tower Hill. It seems to have had an outer wall as well, surrounded by two trenches, the inner of which according to sources was about thirty three feet deep. After the Lacy's, it was the Duke of Lancaster who took possession of the manor house and the lands. Most of the bailey to the east of Hall Tower Hill has now been built on and destroyed. However the remains of the trench that surrounded the castle are visible, but it now measures only around 14 feet deep.

Barwick-in-Elmet (pronounced Barrick-in-Elmet) is a village in West Yorkshire, 7 miles (11 km) east of Leeds city centre. It is one of only three places in the area to be explicitly associated with the ancient Romano-British kingdom of Elmet, the others being Scholes-in-Elmet and Sherburn-in-Elmet. The village is part of the civil parish of Barwick in Elmet and Scholes and sits in the Harewood ward of Leeds City Council.

Becca Hall is a country residence situated in Aberford, Leeds, West Yorkshire, Yorkshire, at OS grid reference Lat.53:50:35N Lon.1:22:08W. It is situated on Becca Lane within the old Gascoigne estate. The house is a Grade II listed building.

The Aberford Dykes are a series of archaeological monuments located around the valley of the Cock Beck, where it runs just north of the village of Aberford on the border between North and West Yorkshire, England. The complex consists of three individual earthworks: Becca Banks/the Ridge, the South Dyke, and Woodhouse Moor Rein.

Bramham Park is a Grade I listed 18th-century country house in Bramham, between Leeds and Wetherby, in West Yorkshire, England. The house, constructed of magnesian limestone ashlar with stone slate roofs in a classical style, is built to a linear plan with a main range linked by colonnades to flanking pavilions. The main block is of three storeys with a raised forecourt. The house is surrounded by a 500 acres (200 ha) landscaped park ornamented by a series of follies and avenues laid out in the 18th-century landscape tradition, surrounded by 1,235 acres (500 ha) of arable farmland. Bramham Park is used annually for the Leeds Festival.

Elmet and Rothwell is a constituency in West Yorkshire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since its creation in 2010 by Alec Shelbrooke, a Conservative. In the 2017 general election, Elmet and Rothwell recorded the largest turnout of any seat in West or South Yorkshire, with almost 60,000 electors casting a vote. There is no town of Elmet: the name refers to an ancient Celtic kingdom in the area. The name is however referenced by local villages Barwick-in-Elmet and Scholes-in-Elmet, and also Sherburn in Elmet which is nearby but outside the constituency. The seat is due to be abolished for the next general election.

Elmet was a county constituency in West Yorkshire represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. From 1997 the MP was Colin Burgon of Labour, who did not stand in the 2010 general election.

Barwick in Elmet and Scholes is a civil parish in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 5,120, decreasing to 4,902 at the 2011 Census. The parish includes Barwick-in-Elmet and Scholes, situated in the north-eastern part of the borough. The parish council usually meets monthly.

Wothersome is a civil parish in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, West Yorkshire, England. It is south of Wetherby, north east of Leeds and west of Bramham. It has a population of 40. From the 2011 Census the village is shown as being in the Harewood ward of Leeds Metropolitan Council. In 1848 it was described as having 3 farms totalling 600 acres (2.4 km2) and a population of 19 people. It was a township in Bardsey parish in the Skyrack wapentake, lower division, in the West Riding of Yorkshire.In 1871 the population of Wothersome was 24; in 1901 it was 28; it 1971 it was 26.In 1418, the medieval spelling, or, at least, the pronunciation, may have been Wodusom.

Parlington is a civil parish that includes part of Aberford, in the City of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. In 2001 the parish had a population of 87. The parish touches Aberford, Barwick in Elmet and Scholes, Lotherton cum Aberford, Micklefield and Sturton Grange. Aberford & District Parish Council includes Parlington along with Aberford, Lotherton cum Aberford and Sturton Grange. There are plans to build a garden village in Parlington.
