John M. Beasley House is a house at 7706 Westmoreland Drive, Sarasota, Florida in Manatee County which was built in Mediterranean Revival style in 1926. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.It is a two-story, frame residence covered with stucco, upon a concrete foundation. It has a gable roof with barrel tile sections and it has flat roof sections. Some shallow eaves are supported by simple wood brackets. The property also includes a non-contributing garage.It is located in the Whitfield Estates Subdivision.

Reid-Woods House is a Mediterranean Revival-style house located at 373 Whitfield Avenue in the Whitfield Estates subdivision in the southern part of Manatee County, Florida. Built c. 1926, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.It is "a finely detailed" house with an irregular plan. It has "multiplanar roofs, including gable, hip, flat, and shed roofs", with all but the flat roof sections covered by barrel clay tile.Its interior floor plan remained intact as of its NRHP listing in 2000.

The University of South Florida Sarasota–Manatee (also known as USFSM or USF Sarasota-Manatee) is a branch campus of the University of South Florida in Sarasota, Florida. USFSM was established in 1975 as a regional campus of the University of South Florida and gained separate accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate and master's degrees in June 2011. New College of Florida is a public liberal arts college in Sarasota, Florida. It was founded in 1960 as a private institution known simply as New College, spent several years merged into the University of South Florida, and in 2001 became an autonomous college, the eleventh independent school of the State University System of Florida as the honors college for the state system. Upon achieving independence, the school adopted its current name: New College of Florida. As an honors college, the college is distinguished by its unusual "contract system", in which students are given written evaluations instead of grades and agree to semester-long contracts in which a certain number of classes must be passed. For example, in a "three out of five" contract, a student who failed two classes would face no penalty, although one who failed three classes would risk losing all credits for the entire semester. The system was devised to encourage academic experimentation and foster curiosity about disparate topics outside one's usual course of study. New College students are required to complete an undergraduate thesis project and baccalaureate exam, during which the student presents and defends their project to a committee of professors. New College has been cited as having the highest percentage of students receiving a Fulbright scholarship of any college or university in the United States.New College has the smallest student population in the State University System of Florida with 659 students (2021).

Cà d'Zan () is a Mediterranean revival residence in Sarasota, Florida, adjacent to Sarasota Bay. Cà d'Zan was built in the mid-1920s as the winter retreat of the American circus mogul, entrepreneur, and art collector John Ringling and his wife Mable Burton Ringling. The name Cà d'Zan means "House of John" in the Venetian language, in Italian it would be "Casa di Giovanni". Built in 1926 by Owen Burns, Cà d'Zan is a large Mediterranean revival residence that features an eclectic array of architectural styles including Venetian Gothic, Italian Renaissance, Moorish, and Spanish-inspired elements drawn from different historic periods. Mable and John Ringling had visited Venice and the Venetian Gothic influence in the house is prominently seen in a variety of architectural elements in the decorative program, such as windows with Gothic arches and terra cotta ornament replicating Gothic tracery.
