Hiwassee College was a private liberal arts college in Madisonville, Tennessee. Founded in 1849, the college offered associate degrees as well as bachelor's degrees. The majority of its associate degree graduates went on to complete bachelor's degrees elsewhere. The college closed on May 10, 2019 due to financial issues.

Sequoyah High School is a public high school in Madisonville, Tennessee. The school, a part of Monroe County Schools, was built in 1995 and combined Vonore High School and Madisonville High School. It is named after the Cherokee Indian Sequoyah. It serves grades 9-12 and is one of three high schools in Monroe County. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Sequoyah High School is recognized as a Bronze School by U.S. News & World Report. The mascot is the Chief and the school colors are red, white, and gold.

The Niota Depot is a historic railroad depot in Niota in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Built in 1853, it is the oldest remaining pre–Civil War railroad depot in the state. It now serves as the Niota city hall.
