William Hoster House

Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church, also known as United Church of Fayette, is a historic Evangelical and Reformed church located at Fayette in Seneca County, New York. It was constructed in 1823 in a simple rectangular form with gable roof and modest Federal period detailing. It was updated and its Romanesque qualities enhanced in 1882 with the addition of a four-stage bell tower with Queen Anne decoration. The adjacent cemetery was in use between 1810 and 1926, and the surrounding cast-iron fence was installed in 1877.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The primary county seat is Waterloo, moved there from the original county seat of Ovid in 1819. Therefore, most political sources list only Waterloo as the county seat. The county's name comes from the Seneca Nation of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), who occupied part of the region. Canoga is a hamlet in the Town of Fayette, Seneca County, New York, United States, along Cayuga Lake. It is located seven miles (11 km) southeast of the hamlet of Seneca Falls, at an elevation of 449 feet (137 m). The primary cross roads where the hamlet is located are N.Y. Route 89 and Canoga Road (CR 121). The word Canoga, or "Ga-no-geh" as called by native Cayuga people, means "place of the sweet water".Canoga and the immediate area is home to some members of the Cayuga Nation. Nearby at Canoga Cemetery is a historical monument marking the birthplace of Seneca Indian Chief Red Jacket, although it is currently unknown as to where he was actually born. According to Iroquois history and tradition, Chief Red Jacket was born in 1750 at the former Indian village of Skannayutenate along Canoga Creek which was later burned in 1779 by troops under the command of Colonel Henry Dearborn during the Sullivan Expedition of the American Revolutionary War. As orator of the Six Nations of the Iroquois, there are six stones at the base of the Chief Red Jacket birthplace monument mentioning each of the tribes belonging to the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.Cayuga Lake State Park and Seneca Falls Country Club are located 4 miles (6 km) north of Canoga on N.Y. Route 89.

The Peter Whitmer log home is a historic site located in Fayette, New York, United States, owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The current house is a replica of the original log cabin and at its original site, and was built in 1980 to mark the sesquicentennial of the founding of the church. In the early 19th century, it was the home of Peter Whitmer Sr., his wife Mary Musselman Whitmer, and their eight children: Christian, Jacob, John, David, Catherine, Peter Jr., Nancy, and Elizabeth Ann, who lived on the property from 1809 to 1830. The house is prominent in the early history of the Latter Day Saint movement as the traditional location of the formal organization of the Church of Christ, the original name of the church founded by Joseph Smith on April 6, 1830. The home is also near the site where the Three Witnesses were shown the golden plates by the Angel Moroni in 1829. Joseph Smith and his wife Emma lived in the home with the Whitmers for six months in 1829, with a large part of the Book of Mormon being translated during that time. The house and adjacent visitor center are open year-round for public tours.
