Near North Career Metropolitan High School (formerly known as Near North Career Magnet High School and Near North Career Academy High School) was a public 4–year magnet high school located in the Old Town neighborhood on the Near North Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Operated by the Chicago Public Schools district, Near North opened in September 1979. Near North served as a new and replacement school for the area when Cooley Vocational High School was closed at the end of the 1978–1979 school year due to inadequate conditions within the building. In addition to being a magnet school, Near North offered vocational courses through the Education To Careers (ETC) program. Near North closed in June 2001 due to the decline in its enrollment and the city's plans for the surrounding neighborhood.

The Noble Academy is a public charter high school located in the Near North Side neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is a collaboration between the Noble Network of Charter Schools and Phillips Exeter Academy of New Hampshire. The Noble Academy is a Level 1+ school, based on Chicago Public School rankings.

Old Town is a neighborhood and historic district in Near North Side and Lincoln Park, Chicago, Illinois, home to many of Chicago's older, Victorian-era buildings, including St. Michael's Church, one of seven buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire.

St. Michael's Church in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago is a Roman Catholic church staffed by the Redemptorist order of priests. The parish was founded to minister to German Catholic immigrants in 1852 with its first wooden church completed that year at a cost of $750 (including the bell). The building stands at the intersection of Eugenie Street and Cleveland Avenue. The church was built as a haven for German immigrants who were outcasts in Old Chicago. In addition, the town's main church, St. Joseph's Church, was overcrowded. The Redemptorists were invited to administer the parish in 1860 and a large brick church was finished in 1869. When completed, its tower made it the tallest building in Chicago and the United States, a distinction it held until the old Chicago Board of Trade Building was completed in 1885.

The Yondorf Block and Hall is a historic building at 758 W. North Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The building was built in 1887 to serve as a meeting hall for the various social organizations in Lincoln Park; while its first floor was dedicated to retail space, it had six meeting rooms on its upper floors. Chapters of national fraternal organizations and ethnic clubs formed by immigrants in the neighborhood met in the building, and its largest hall hosted speeches and performances as well. Designed by Frederick Alschlager, the building combines Victorian Gothic and Romanesque Revival elements. While its terra cotta clad storefronts and metal cornice are typical of the former style, its use of decorative brickwork and stone is inspired by the latter.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1984.

Sedgwick is an 'L' station on the CTA's Brown Line, Purple Line Express trains also stop at the station during weekday rush hours. It is an elevated station with two side platforms, located in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood of the Near North Side community area. The adjacent stations are Armitage, which is located about one mile (1.6 km) to the northwest, and Chicago, located about one mile (1.6 km) to the south.

Barack Obama College Preparatory High School is a future high school in Chicago, Illinois that was scheduled to open in 2017 and will be named after President of the United States Barack Obama. It will be located right behind Skinner North Classical School and is planned to eventually be home to 1,200 students.The opening of the school was delayed in 2016 because the money was needed for a new teacher contract.

Halsted was a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's North Side Main Line, which is now part of the Brown Line. The station was located at 1618 N. Halsted Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. Halsted was situated south of Armitage (and, until 1942, south of Willow) and north of Larrabee, which closed at the same time as Halsted. It was one of only four "L" stations that were built on s-curves; Sheridan, Indiana, and Sacramento were the other three. Halsted opened on May 31, 1900, and closed on August 1, 1949, along with 22 other stations as part of a CTA service revision.

The Marshall Field Garden Apartments is a large non-governmental subsidized housing project in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The project occupies two square city blocks and was the largest moderate-income housing development in the U.S. at the time of construction in 1929. Marshall Field Garden Apartments has 628 units within 10 buildings. Polo G lived in the project in his youth.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is a Chicago theatre company founded in 1974 by Terry Kinney, Jeff Perry, and Gary Sinise in the Unitarian church on Half Day Road in Deerfield, Illinois and is now located in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood on Halsted Street. Its name comes from the 1927 novel Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse, which original member Rick Argosh was reading during the company's inaugural production, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, in January 1974. After occupying several theatres in Chicago, in 1991, it moved into its own purpose-built complex with three performing spaces, the largest seating 550. A recipient of the Regional Tony Award, several of its productions have transferred to Broadway.

Alinea is a restaurant in Chicago, Illinois, United States. In 2010, Alinea was awarded three stars from the Michelin Guide. As of April 2021, Alinea is the only Chicago restaurant to retain a three-star status, Michelin's highest accolade.

Boka is a Chicago restaurant which has retained a one-star ranking from the Michelin Guide since 2010. Its name is a portmanteau of the surnames of its founders, Kevin Boehm and Rob Katz. Boka received 3 stars from the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Magazine. The executive chef is Lee Wolen. Boka won Chef of the Year for Lee Wolen in 2015 in the Chicago Tribune, and Restaurant of the Year at the Jean Banchet Awards. Wolen was also awarded the best Chef in America award from Highlights magazine.
