La Mirada High School

La Mirada is a city in southeast Los Angeles County, California United States, and is one of the Gateway Cities, on the border with Orange County. The population was 48,008 at the 2020 census. The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and the Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center are two of its major attractions. It is the home of Biola University, an evangelical Christian institution of higher education.

La Mirada Mall was a 72-acre (29 ha) regional shopping mall at the southeast corner of La Mirada Boulevard (originally named Luitwieler) and Rosecrans Avenue in La Mirada, California, in southeast Los Angeles County, in a region known as the Gateway Cities. It is now the site of the La Mirada Theater Center, a strip mall. Ohrbach's opened a freestanding store here, its third in the Los Angeles area after Miracle Mile and Downtown L.A., and the first one in a suburb, on November 3, 1962, measuring 100,000 square feet (9,300 m2).In the early 1970s, Canadian developer Mark Tanz invested about $7 million to turn a loosely arranged, growing collection of stores into an enclosed mall next to a renovated outdoor plaza with fountains and trees. Over the years, stores that came and went included J.J. Newberry, Woolco, Ohrbach's, Barker Bros., Lucky Stores, Market Basket, the La Mirada Theatre (cinema), and Robert's Department Store. The former open-air nearly double in size in its transition to a fully-enclosed mall.In the early 1980s, failing to create a unique profile among the dozen or so malls in the Gateway Cities area, the mall shifted to profiling itself as a "discount mall" with lower rents and stores that offered discounted, but name-brand, merchandise.But by early 1988, the decision had been made to demolish the mall and reduce its size. By 1990, demolition began on the old mall, and this land is now the site of a UFC gym (originally Toys R Us) and other outbuildings. What were the outbuildings of the original mall's north side were renovated and these are now the main strip center anchored by an Albertsons supermarket, CVS Pharmacy (originally Sav-On Drugs), AMC Theatres and the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Talbot is nondenominational and known for its conservative theological positions, particularly its historical adherence to biblical inerrancy.

Biola University () is a private, nondenominational, evangelical Christian university in La Mirada, California. It was founded in 1908 as the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. It has over 150 programs of study in nine schools offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.

East Whittier () is an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 9,757 at the 2010 census, up from 9,538 at the 2000 census. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined this community as a census-designated place (CDP). The name was changed from East La Mirada in 2012, likely due to its precise location in relation to the city of Whittier. The previous delineation of East Whittier CDP occurred during the 1960 census, when the area recorded a population of 19,884.

Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) is a private university located in Whittier, California and specializing in the health sciences. SCUHS programs include acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which are regarded by the mainstream medicine and science communities as pseudoscience. Academics are organized into four colleges and schools: the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, the College of Eastern Medicine, and the College of Science & Integrative Health. The university is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission.

Lowell High School was a public high school in the Fullerton Joint Union High School District from September 1961 until June 1980, when it was closed because of declining student enrollment. It was a four-year institution, with students coming primarily from Rancho-Cañada and Starbuck Junior High schools. The school athletic name was the Patriots, and its mascots were known as Johnny Patriot and Janie Patriot.

Ralph B. Clark Regional Park is an urban park located in the cities of Fullerton and Buena Park, California. The park is maintained by Orange County Regional Parks, the government division that controls the regional parks in Orange County. The park is south of Rosecrans Avenue at the southern edge of the West Coyote Hills in Buena Park, but both a small section named Camel Hill next to the main park area south of Rosecrans and another small section of the park with six softball fields and a trail located north of Rosecrans Avenue are within Fullerton city limits. The park was originally opened as Los Coyotes Regional Park in 1981, and was renamed in 1987 after then-retiring Orange County Supervisor Ralph B. Clark (1917–2009).

Brea Creek is one of four principal tributaries of Coyote Creek, which is a lower tributary of the San Gabriel River in California. It drains parts of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. The creek flows 11.7 miles (18.8 km) from the cities of Brea and Anaheim to Whittier, where its mouth is on the left bank of Coyote Creek, at a point 481 feet (147 m) lower in elevation.

Buena Park station is a train station in Buena Park, California, United States, served by Metrolink commuter rail. It is at the center of a transit-oriented development including townhomes and a housing complex owned by the California State University, Fullerton, near the corner of Dale Street and Malvern Avenue. The station is served by Metrolink's Orange County Line and 91/Perris Valley Line. The station has a clock tower nearly 70 feet high which echoes a clock tower at nearby Knott's Berry Farm, itself a copy of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The station includes a 300-car parking lot and a covered pedestrian overpass to allow passengers to cross the tracks.Construction started in January 2006, and after many delays, the station opened on September 4, 2007. Construction cost $14 million.The proposed alignment for the California High-Speed Rail project would require the loss of the station or the demolition of about 25 condominiums. The City of Buena Park joined other area municipalities to demand greater consultation from the High-Speed Rail Commission. In response, the California High-Speed Rail Authority agreed to study the possibility of a "shared-track alignment" between Los Angeles and Anaheim that would not require the demolition of the present station or condominiums.Amtrak(s) Pacific Surfliner and Southwest Chief passes through the station but does not stop in Buena Park.

Whittwood Town Center is a 65-acre open-air shopping center in Whittier, Southeast Los Angeles County, California, located on the southwest corner of Whittier Boulevard and Santa Gertrudes Avenue. The shopping center has a gross leasable area of 841,936 square feet and is close to Interstate 605, Interstate 5, and the Pomona Freeway. Anchor stores include CVS Pharmacy, JC Penney, Kohl's, PetSmart, Sears, and Target.
