Vaudreuil station

Vaudreuil is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The biggest municipality in the district is Vaudreuil-Dorion. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its final election was in 1936. It disappeared in the 1939 election and its successor electoral district was Vaudreuil-Soulanges. It was re-created for the 1989 election from the eastern part of Vaudreuil-Soulanges electoral district. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. It was named after former governor of New France from 1703 to 1725, Philippe de Rigaud de Vaudreuil.

CJVD-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec. Owned and operated by Yves Sauvé, it broadcasts on 100.1 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 1,000 watts (class A). The station has an adult hits format, including music from 1955 to 1995 and identifies itself as CJVD 100,1. CJVD-FM serves Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the West Island communities of Montreal, Valleyfield, Beauharnois and Chateauguay. The radio station was founded on September 29, 2008, by Sauvé with the collaboration of Richard Noël, two well-known broadcasters in Quebec. These professionals worked during many years for important radio stations before the foundation of CJVD-FM. The station was given approval by the CRTC on July 6, 2007. However, as Sauvé had requested the 106.3 frequency, which was instead granted to Canadian Hellenic Cable Radio (CHCR) for a multicultural station (which became CKIN-FM), Sauvé's approval was made conditional on submitting a new application to use another frequency. His application for 100.1 MHz was granted on May 2, 2008.

Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac (French pronunciation: [vodʁœj syʁ lə lak], literally Vaudreuil on the Lake) is a village municipality in Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada. It is located on the western portion of the Vaudreuil Peninsula, which projects into Lake of Two Mountains. The population as of the Canada 2016 Census was 1,341. Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac is predominantly residential (90%), and only 10% industrial and commercial. The Club Nautique des Deux-Montagnes attracts many sailing enthusiasts.

Vaudreuil-Dorion (French pronunciation: [vodʁœj dɔʁjɔ̃]) is a suburb of Greater Montreal, in the Montérégie region of southwestern Quebec, Canada. The result of the merger of two towns, Vaudreuil and Dorion, it is located in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality.

The Commission scolaire des Trois-Lacs is a former francophone school district in the Canadian province of Quebec. It comprises several primary schools and high schools across municipalities in the Montérégie region, and headquartered in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The commission was overseen by a board of elected school trustees. The three lakes referred to in the name are Lake of Two Mountains, Lake Saint-Louis, and Lake Saint Francis which surround much of the district.

École secondaire de la Cité-des-Jeunes, previously named École secondaire Vaudreuil is a public high school in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Canada. Managed by the Commission scolaire des Trois-Lacs, it serves the northern population of the peninsula of the regional county municipality of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

The Dorion level crossing accident occurred on October 7, 1966, when a school bus carrying 42 students was struck by a CN Rail freight train travelling at full speed in Dorion, Quebec, Canada (now a part of Vaudreuil-Dorion).

Dorion station is a commuter rail station operated by Exo in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Canada. It is served by the Vaudreuil–Hudson line. As of October 2020, on weekdays, 10 inbound trains and 11 outbound trains on the line call at this station (in both cases, all trains on the line except one short-turned train); on weekends, all trains (four on Saturday and three on Sunday in each direction) call here. Dorion station consists of two side platforms, with access between them via a roadway underpass about 80 metres away from the end of the platform. The station was opened in 1887; the historic station building still stands but no longer serves passengers, and was leased in 1999 to a mental health services organization.

L'Île-Cadieux is a village and municipality in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality. It is located on and contiguous with Cadieux Island, which projects into Lake of Two Mountains just north off Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 105.

Taschereau Bridge is a bridge linking Pincourt, on Île Perrot, to Vaudreuil-Dorion, in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges RMC across the West Channel of the Ottawa River. The bridge was originally built in 1925, and was doubled in 1964, as part of the same project as Galipeault Bridge, which links the island to Montreal Island, but it has been maintained independently since then. Both bridges carry four lanes of Quebec Autoroute 20, which becomes Harwood Boulevard on the Dorion side. The bridge also carries a bicycle path, and is part of Route Verte 5.The widening of this bridge and Galipeault Bridge in 1964, both of them from two lanes to four, was done in a bid to appease Perrot Island residents and merchants, who were worried that the construction of nearby Île aux Tourtes Bridge, which provides a way around the island, would hurt their businesses. A medium-size shopping mall, Le Faubourg de l'Île, was built next to the bridge on the Pincourt side, at the Cardinal Léger exit. Like Galipeault Bridge, which it continues, Taschereau Bridge was built next to a Grand Trunk Railroad bridge that was built in 1854, and was the first fixed link between Montreal and the mainland. The bridge was named after Louis-Alexandre Taschereau, who was Premier of Quebec at the time of its inauguration.
