Battle of Windsor

Devonshire Mall is a shopping mall in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It was built in 1970 at the location of the former Devonshire Raceway, a horse racing track, that had existed since 1935. The mall has been expanded several times since its opening, in 1981, 1996, 1999-2002, 2008, and 2018. At over 175 stores, it is by far the largest mall in Windsor. Devonshire Mall was sold by HOOPP in 2022 to H&R Reit and is currently operated by Primaris REIT.

The Grand Marais Trail is the name of a small bicycle trail that follows Turkey Creek (also known as the Grand Marais Drain) in the middle of Windsor, Ontario. It starts off as a minor spur route, connecting the West Windsor Recreationway with Huron Church Road and the neighbourhood of South Windsor (via a tunnel under Huron Church Road, and light at Grand Marais Rd. if the tunnel is closed).

On June 17, 1946, the most powerful tornado to strike Windsor, Ontario, moved through the town at F4 intensity. The tornado touched down near River Rouge, Michigan, then crossed the Detroit River and made landfall in the Brighton Beach neighbourhood of Windsor. It then cut across southern Windsor and northern Sandwich West Township, Ontario (now the Municipality of LaSalle, Ontario), along a path 60 kilometres (40 mi) in length. It also cut across Highway 3 before weakening somewhat. The storm then touched down as an F4 again at the modern-day intersection of Walker Road and Grand Marais Road, near the center of the city.

Windsor's West Side neighbourhood is home to a Chinatown. As of 2012 it is the largest Chinatown in proximity to Detroit, Michigan.The Chinatown started in 1961 with 500 Chinese to over 5,000 by 1981. The difference with Ottawa's Chinatown is that many of the Chinese residents are students studying at the University of Windsor. By 1982, an "official" establishment was made by the Essex County Chinese Canadian Association and the Chinese Benevolent Association of Windsor by establishing a "permanent" community centre on Wyandotte Street. According to another source, "... at first, the Chinese lived on the lower east side of Windsor in proximity to Riverside Drive East. This area became a redevelopment area. A new Chinatown developed around Park Street West and Dougall Road, between University Avenue in the North and Wyandotte in the South."

The Devonwood Bike Trail is a fairly straight and flat bike trail in the southern end of the city of Windsor, Ontario. The path starts just south of E.C. Row Expressway at the intersection of Hallmark Avenue and Conservation Drive. The path has several short branches less than 100 m long to connect it to neighbouring cul-de-sacs, and passes through a couple parks. Its southern terminus is the end of the pavement as it enters the Essex Region Conservation Authority-controlled Devonwood Conservation Area, a heavily wooded animal and plant sanctuary. The trail also serves the Windsor Airport, Devonshire Mall, and the "Silver City" mall and theatre area via bike lanes on Calderwood Avenue and a paved trail along Walker Road. Contrary to what one may expect, the trail is actually quite lightly travelled, considering the major attractions within 1 mile (1.6 km) of it.

Windsor is a city in southwestern Ontario, Canada, on the south bank of the Detroit River directly across from Detroit, Michigan, United States. Geographically located within but administratively independent of Essex County, it is the southernmost city in Canada and marks the southwestern end of the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor. The city's population was 229,660 at the 2021 census, making it the third-most populated city in Southwestern Ontario, after London and Kitchener. The Detroit–Windsor urban area is North America's most populous trans-border conurbation, and the Ambassador Bridge border crossing is the busiest commercial crossing on the Canada–United States border. Windsor is a major contributor to Canada's automotive industry and is culturally diverse. Known as the "Automotive Capital of Canada", Windsor's industrial and manufacturing heritage is responsible for how the city has developed through the years.

E J Lajeunesse is a French-Catholic high school in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It belongs to the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence and is named after Father Ernest Joseph Lajeunesse. Serving students from grades 7/8 through 12, the school's current principal is Natalie Julien MacAdam.

Windsor Stadium is a 3,000-capacity stadium located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the stadium is mainly used for Canadian Football and soccer, but has hosted rugby and other sports. It was home to the Ontario Football Conference team the Windsor AKO Fratmen prior to their acquisition in 2020 by St. Clair College, and Canadian Soccer League team the Windsor Stars before they became Windsor TFC. Windsor Stadium is located within Jackson Park. The Windsor AKO Fratmen Football Team is a Canadian Football team that played in the Canadian Junior Football League since the 1940s and won national titles in 1952, 1954, and 1999. The Fratmen have played at Fratmen Field at Windsor Stadium since 1953. The 2007 CSL All-star game was held at Windsor Stadium.

Catholic Central High School is a high school in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It is operated by the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board. Amy Lofaso is the school's principal. Catholic Central High School has a diverse, multicultural student body.

Windsor Transmission was a General Motors of Canada parts plant in Windsor, Ontario and one of several facilities in southern Ontario and Canada. It was the only plant located in southwestern Ontario and was located closer to GM headquarters in Detroit than GM Canada headquarters in Oshawa. It made front-wheel-drive, automatic transmissions and transmission components used by other GM facilities.Built in 1963, the facility closed on July 28, 2010 and will not be re-tooled. This resulted in the layoff of 1,400 workers at the plant. Products produced at this plant have been discontinued, with production of new six-speed transmissions moving to the St. Catharines Engine Plant in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Honourable W.C. Kennedy Collegiate is a secondary school (grades 9 through 12) located in central Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB). Mr. Berard is the current principal and Mr. Stefan Adjetey is the current vice-principal

Jackson Park is a park south of Downtown Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Acquired in 1929, with the persistence of then mayor Cecil E. Jackson, Windsor City Council voted in favour of purchasing the land from the Jockey Club. At the same meeting where the land was purchased, City Council decided to name the new park after their Mayor. Jackson Park has long been considered one of Windsor's most beautiful parks and attractions. It is most known for its yearly display annual garden beds and a large array of perennial plants. In the winter months, Jackson hosts Bright Lights Windsor, a Christmas light display put on by the City.
