The Church of St John the Evangelist is a Grade I listed Church of England parish church dedicated to John the Evangelist, in Corby Glen, Lincolnshire, England. The church is 9 miles (14 km) south-east of Grantham, and in the South Kesteven Lincolnshire Vales. It is noted in particular for its 14th- and 15th-century medieval wall paintings. St John's is in the ecclesiastical parish of Corby Glen, and is part of the Corby Glen Group of Parishes in the Deanery of Beltisloe, and the Diocese of Lincoln. Other churches within the group are St Andrew's at Irnham, St Nicholas' at Swayfield, St Thomas a Becket at Bassingthorpe, St Mary Magdalene at Bitchfield and St Thomas of Canterbury at Burton Coggles.

Corby Glen is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is approximately 9 miles (14 km) south-east of the market town of Grantham and 8 miles (13 km) north west of Bourne.

South Kesteven is a local government district in Lincolnshire, England, forming part of the traditional Kesteven division of the county. Its council is based in Grantham. The district also includes the towns of Bourne, Market Deeping and Stamford, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. The neighbouring districts are North Kesteven, South Holland, Peterborough, North Northamptonshire, Rutland, Melton and Newark and Sherwood.

Grantham and Stamford is a constituency in Lincolnshire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Gareth Davies, a Conservative.Under the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the constituency will be subject to major boundary changes, with Stamford being included in the re-established Rutland and Stamford constituency. The seat will be renamed Grantham and Bourne, to be first contested at the next general election.

Swayfield is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 316. It is situated just over 3 miles (5 km) east from the A1 road, 9 miles (14 km) south-east from Grantham and 10 miles (16 km) north from Stamford. It has approximately 138 houses.

The Northampton Sand Formation, sometimes called the Northamptonshire Sand, is a Middle Jurassic geological formation which is placed within the Inferior Oolite Group. It was formerly worked extensively in Northamptonshire for its ironstone. The Northampton Sand Formation constitutes the lowest part of the Inferior Oolite Group and lies on the upper Lias clay. It attains a maximum thickness of up to 21 metres (69 ft) to the north and west of Northampton where it lies in a subterranean basin. In the south, it fades out around Towcester. Northward from the edge of the basin in the upper Lias, under Northampton, it lies progressively lower beneath the Jurassic Lincolnshire limestones. A little to the north of Corby Glen (grid reference TF0027) it is at about 50 metres (160 ft) from the surface. It fades out under north Lincolnshire as the strata rise towards the Market Weighton Axis. The formation to dates to the Aalenian, and predominantly consists of sandy ironstone, which when freshly exposed is greenish-grey in colour, which weathers to limonitic brown sandstone. It formed in an extensive, shallow sea on the northwestern margin of the London-Brabant Massif. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation, although none have yet been referred to a specific genus. A species of horseshoe crab, Mesolimulus woodwardi has been described from the formation.The formation is a signficiant emitter of radon gas.

Corby Glen railway station was a station on the Great Northern Railway main line serving Corby Glen, Lincolnshire. It was west of the village on the Melton Mowbray road, and was originally named just Corby, but was renamed to avoid confusion with Corby station on the Midland Railway in Northamptonshire. The station closed in 1959.

Swinstead is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 5 miles (8.0 km) west from Bourne, 9 miles (14.5 km) north from Stamford and 11 miles (17.7 km) south-east from Grantham. It is a village of just over 100 households, the population of the civil parish being measured at 234 in the 2011 census. Swinstead parish church is dedicated to St Mary. The village's last public house closed in 2008, and the nearest amenities are 2 miles (3.2 km) away at Corby Glen. Adjacent villages include Creeton, Swayfield and Grimsthorpe. England international footballer Beaumont Jarrett was vicar of Swinstead from 1883 to 1895.In William Shakespeare's King John, King John stayed in "Swinsted Abbey", but it is Swineshead Abbey that he stayed: this confusion was common in late-sixteenth century texts, for Swinstead is about 25 miles from Swineshead.

Burton Coggles (full name Burton-le-Coggles from Byrton-en-les-Coggles) is a small village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population is included in the civil parish of Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe. The village is situated 7 miles (11 km) south from Grantham, and between the B1176 road and the East Coast Main Line.

Beltisloe is a Deanery of the Diocese of Lincoln in England, and a former Wapentake.The Wapentake of Beltisloe was established as an ancient administrative division of the English county of Lincolnshire before the Norman Conquest of 1066. In England a wapentake was the division of a shire for administrative, military and judicial purposes under the common law. The term wapentake is of Scandinavian origin and meant the taking of weapons; it later signified the clash of arms by which the people assembled in a local court expressed assent. Danish influence was strong in those English counties where wapentakes existed.The Wapentake of Beltisloe was bounded on the north by Winnibriggs and Threo Wapentake; on the east by Aveland Wapentake; on the south by Ness Wapentake and Rutland and on the west by Grantham soke and Leicestershire. This wapentake contained a number of now abandoned settlements, and in the 19th century contained the market town of Corby Glen and the villages of Basingthorpe, Bitchfield, Burton Coggles, Castle Bytham, Little Bytham, Careby, Creeton, Edenham, Gunby, Irnham, Lavington, Skillington, Stainby, Swayfield, Swinstead, Witham on the Hill, North Witham and South Witham.

Bitchfield is a village in the civil parish of Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe, in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It consists of two groups of buildings connected by Dark Lane, known as Bitchfield and Lower Bitchfield, collectively called Bitchfield. The village is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) south-east from Grantham, and on the B1176 road, running east and parallel to the A1. In 1921 the parish had a population of 95. On 1 April 1931 the parish was abolished and merged with Bassingthorpe to form "Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe".Bitchfield is mentioned in the Domesday Book as "Billesfelt". Both Bitchfield and Lower Bitchfield are sometimes described as "shrunken" rather than deserted medieval villages. There are signs that both were more extensive at one time. In Bitchfield there is an earthwork known as Camp Field.The ecclesiastical parish covers just Bitchfield. It is part of the North Beltisloe Group of parishes in the Deanery of Beltisloe, in the Diocese of Lincoln. The parish church, in Lower Bitchfield, is dedicated to St Mary Magdalene. From 2006 to 2011 the incumbent was Rev Richard Ireson. The church is substantially unaltered, with features of both Norman and Perpendicular architecture.

Irnham is a village and civil parish in South Kesteven, Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 10 miles (16 km) south-east from Grantham. To the north is Ingoldsby and to the south-west, Corby Glen. The village is on a high limestone ridge that forms part of the Kesteven Uplands. The civil parish of Irnham includes the hamlets of Bulby and Hawthorpe. The similar extent ecclesiastical parish is Irnham, part of the Beltisloe rural deanery in the Diocese of Lincoln, and part of a Group which includes Corby Glen and Swayfield, sharing a single priest. The parish church is dedicated to St Andrew.
