The Fourth Camp of Rochambeau's Army is a historic military camp site near Plains Road and Lovers Lane on the banks of the Shetucket River in Windham, Connecticut. It was here that the French Army encamped in the summer of 1781 under the command of Rochambeau on their march from Providence, Rhode Island to rendezvous with the Continental Army under General George Washington. Four divisions passed through, each one day apart.: E3 One of Rochambeau's aides described Windham at the time as "a charming market town, where, incidentally, there were many pretty women at whose homes we passed the afternoon very agreeably." Of the camp site, he wrote, "A mile away is a beautiful river (the Shetucket) with a fine wooden bridge. We camped on its banks very comfortably, though hardly militarily."The camp site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The next campsite to the west is also NRHP-listed as Fifth Camp of Rochambeau's Infantry. On the army's return trip in 1782, its 47th camp site (also NRHP-listed) was at a different location in Windham.: E4 The site is one of multiple properties whose possible listing on the National Register was covered in a 2001 study.

The Natchaug River is a 17.9-mile-long (28.8 km) river in Windham and Tolland Counties in northeastern Connecticut. The name Natchaug comes from the Nipmuc language and is believed to mean land between rivers.

Willimantic River

The Willimantic River is a tributary of the Shetucket River, approximately 25 miles (40 km) long in northeastern Connecticut in the New England region of the United States. It is formed in northern Tolland County, near Stafford Springs by the confluence of Middle River and Furnace Brook. It flows south to the city of Willimantic, where it joins the Natchaug River to form the Shetucket. It is joined by the Hop River on the Coventry, Columbia, and Windham town border.

Natchaug School

Natchaug Elementary School is a public elementary school in Willimantic, Connecticut, United States. The school opened in 1865 at the junction of Milk Street and Jackson Street, in downtown Willimantic. It is part of the Windham Public School system and one of four elementary schools and a K-8 STEM magnet school. Natchaug is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The name Natchaug comes from the Nipmuc word meaning "land between the rivers." The school colors are bright green and blue.Natchaug is a public school open to students from kindergarten through fifth grade, after which they move on to Windham Middle School. In the 2021-22 school year there were 278 enrolled students in grades K-5. With 26 classroom teachers, the school has a student-teacher ratio of about 11:1. Natchaug also has a Family Resource Center and before- and after-school programs for its students. Natchaug is a neighborhood school; most students walk to school, although a few school buses are provided.

Prospect Hill Historic District (Willimantic, Connecticut)

The Prospect Hill Historic District encompasses a large residential area in the Willimantic section of Windham, Connecticut. Located north of the Main Street commercial district, it was developed between about 1865 and 1930, and is one of the state's largest historic districts, with more than 800 contributing buildings. It is roughly bounded by Valley, Jackson, Bolivia, Washburn, Windham, and High Streets, and contains one of the state's largest single concentrations of Victorian-era residential architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Frog Bridge

The Frog Bridge (officially known as the Thread City Crossing) is a bridge located in Willimantic, Connecticut which carries South Street (CT 661) across the Willimantic River. It is known as the Frog Bridge because it has four copper frog sculptures on each end of the bridge, sitting on concrete thread spools. The sculptures were designed and created by artist Leo Jensen of Ivoryton, Connecticut.
