Molen van Schoonoord

Schoonoord is a village in the Netherlands and it is part of the Coevorden municipality in Drenthe. It has an altitude of about 20 meters (65 feet). The population was 2,219 with 970 households in 2004.

Ellert en Brammert is an open-air museum in Schoonoord expositing the way people lived in Drenthe at the time of the peat digging. It was named after a myth about the two giants Ellert and Brammert who prowled around the Ellertsveld.

De Kiel is a village in the Netherlands and is part of the Coevorden municipality in Drenthe. De Kiel was first mentioned in 1899 as Kiel and means "the deeper part of a ditch". It used to be spread over six municipalities, and before that seven marken. In 1942, the borders were corrected.

Eeserveen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 14 km northwest of Emmen. The village was first mentioned between 1851 and 1855 as Eesterveen, and means "peat excavation settlement belonging to Ees". The excavation of the peat started around 1870. It used to consists mainly of sod houses which were later replaced by stone houses.Until 1997, the village was split between Borger and Odoorn. In 1998, it became part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn.

Wezuperbrug is a village in the Netherlands. It is a part of the Coevorden municipality in Drenthe. It was first mentioned in 1942 Wezeperbrug, and refers to the bridge over the Oranjekanaal near Wezup. The settlement started in the late-19th century after the canal was dug, and was originally called Nieuw-Wezup.

Odoornerveen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 12 km northwest of Emmen. The village was first mentioned between 1851 and 1855 as "Odoorner veen", and means "peat colony of Odoorn". In 1854, the Oranjekanaal was dug to excavate the peat in the area and the village developed along the canal. About 1,600 hectares (4,000 acres) of peat was excavated between 1856 and 1880, and the area was gradually cultivated for agriculture. Odoornerveen never had a church. The former pub was converted into a village house in 1984.

Eesergroen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 16 km northwest of Emmen. The village was first mentioned in 1942 as "Eesergroen of Eesgroen", and means "trees belonging to Ees. In 1882, the first house was built to cultivate the wilderness. In 1930, a canal was dug and the large scale cultivation of the area started.In 1917, the Maranatha chapel was built by the Rechtzinnig Hervormde Kerk, a Christian fundamentalist congregation. It was decommissioned in 1975 and is now used by an auto workshop. In 1956, a church was built by the Vrijzinnig Hervormde Kerk, a liberal Christianity congregation. It was decommissioned in 1969, and now serves as a holiday home.

Wezup is a village in the Netherlands that is a part of the Coevorden municipality in Drenthe. North of Wezup is Wezuperbrug and to the east is Zweeloo. Wezup is an esdorp which was first mentioned in 1284 as Wesepe, and means "brook through the meadow". In 1488, it became a boermarke, a communal and private land which was autonomous. In 1840, it was home to 168 people.

Westdorp is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 17 km northwest of Emmen.

Ellertshaar is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 17 km southeast of Assen. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1851 as Eldershaar, and means "alder trees on a sandy ridge". Ellershaar was home to 8 people in 1840.

Kibbelveen is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Coevorden municipality in Drenthe. Kibbelveen is a statistical entity, but the postal authorities have placed it under Schoonoord. It was first mentioned in 1975, and means "bog which was disputed". The village cooperates with 't Haantje.

Zweeloo is a village in the municipality of Coevorden, located in the province of Drenthe, in northeastern Netherlands. Zweeloo was a separate municipality from 1819 to 1998, when it was merged with Coevorden. Zweeloo is known for its Reformed Church that was built back in 13th century.
