Ekambareswarar Temple, Chennai is a Hindu temple situated in the neighbourhood of Parry's corner (George Town), Chennai, India dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was constructed by Alanganatha Pillai, chief merchant of the Madras factory of the British East India Company.

Elephant Gate is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India. It is located at an altitude of about 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°05′28.8″N 80°16′42.5″E (i.e., 13.091345°N, 80.278475°E). George Town, Royapuram, Kondithope, Mannadi Vannarapettai, Tondiarpet, Sowcarpet, Vallalar Nagar, Basin bridge and Kasimedu are some of the important neighbourhoods of Elephant Gate. Elephant Gate is one of the areas where the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, K. Kamaraj, delivered a speech in the year 1959. There is a police station in Elephant Gate.There existed a bridge named Elephant Gate bridge, 89 years old, in between Basin Bridge railway station and Chennai Central railway station above the railway tracks. Near about 10,000 vehicles, during peak hours, crossed this bridge. Due to the weakness of the bridge and to decongest the traffic, the bridge was demolished; and a new bridge, with the length of about 156.12 m is being constructed. The construction works are carried out by the Greater Chennai Corporation and Southern Railway, Chennai division. The cost of the project is about ₹30 crore and is equally shared by Greater Chennai Corporation and Southern Railway.Ranganathaswamy Devasthanam Temple and Vaikunta Perumal & Dharmarajar Devasthanam Temple are a few important temples in Elephant Gate area.

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is a department of the government of Tamil Nadu that is responsible for governing the recruitment of personnel into the state's public service. It is the successor of the Madras Service Commission, which came into being under an Act of the Madras Legislature in 1929 and was the first Provincial Public Service Commission in India. It adopted its current name in 1970. TNPSC operates under Articles 315 to 323 of Part XIV of the Constitution of India.

The Broadway bus terminus is the largest city bus terminus of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in the downtown area of the city, viz. Parry's corner and Fort. It lies opposite the Madras High Court along the Esplanade in George Town. It is a connecting point to several areas in the city. The bus terminus is located at the southern end of Broadway and is near the Chennai Fort suburban railway station.

Mint Street is one of the prime streets of the commercial centre of George Town in Chennai, India. The street is one of the oldest streets in Chennai and is believed to be the longest street in the city. Running north–south, the street connects Poonamallee High Road at Park Town in the south with North Wall Road–Old Jail Road Junction at Washermanpet in the north. Salt Cotaurs is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. It is located on the bank of the Buckingham Canal, north of Chennai Central railway station, between the Elephant Gate Bridge Road and Basin Bridge railway station. It is well known for its railway goods yard owned by Southern Railway. The Lost Property Office (LPO) of the Southern Railway (Chennai Division) is also located here. Kandaswami Temple (Tamil: கந்த சுவாமி கோவில்) is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, located in the Parry's corner (Old: George Town) neighbourhood of Chennai city, in Tamil Nadu, India. It is also called 'Mutthu Kumāra Swāmi deva sthānam' (Tamil: முத்து குமார சுவாமி ஸ்தானம்) and popularly known as Kandha kottam (Tamil: கந்த கோட்டம்). It is managed by the Tamil Nadu Hindu religious and charitable endowments department of the government of Tamil Nadu. The Kandha kottam temple has associated educational institutions for music and dance classes; primary and high schools; and a college, in various locations. The Kandha kottam temple also performs social welfare initiatives like free medical clinics and free pharmacies.

Tamil Nadu Government Dental College, also known as Government Dental Hospital and College, is the dental wing of the Madras Medical College. Although the college is a separate entity administratively, it is functionally integrated with the Madras Medical College and Government General Hospital. The hospital is claimed to be the first in the country to provide treatment to 1,000 to 1,500 patients a day in various branches.

Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, commonly known by its former name Madras Law College, is a law school, located in Chennai (Madras), Tamil Nadu, India. It is also referred to as Government Law College or GLC, Chennai. It was established in 1891. It was renamed in 1990, as Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, by the Government of Tamil Nadu in commemoration of the birth centenary of B. R. Ambedkar. In 1997, the Government of Tamil Nadu passed an Act which brought the college under the wings of the newly established Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, splitting the college from the University of Madras.

Seven Wells is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu State in peninsular India. Its name was derived from the seven number of wells, dug out for clean drinking water and supplied to Fort, during the British period in Chennai. The seven wells were ordered to dig by Francis Whyte Ellis, an Englishman, who was an official of the East India Company, later became Collector of 'Madras' (renamed and called as Chennai nowadays). Seven Wells constitute Seven Wells North [Seven Wells North is located at an altitude of 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°06'11.5"N 80.16'53.8"E (i.e. 13.103200°N 80.281600°E)] and Seven Wells South [Seven Wells South is located at an altitude of 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°05'46.0"N 80°16'53.8"E (i.e. 13.096100°N 80.281600°E)]. Out of the seven wells dug, only two are in use nowadays. This place was earlier called as Peddanaikenpet. Seven Wells is a crowded place of residents and businesses.
