Wild Island is a water park located off I-80 in the city of Sparks, Nevada. The park is the only one in the vicinity of the double city. Wild Island opened in June 1989 and has grown and expanded throughout its history. The park originally opened with only five attractions and two pools and has since added numerous other attractions. The park is usually open from the third weekend in May to the Fourth weekend in September giving its guests one of the longest water park seasons on the west coast. During the summer of 2013, the park hosted over 200,000 guests.

Western Village is a hotel and casino located in Sparks, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Peppermill Casinos, Inc.

KZTQ (1230 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Reno, Nevada. The station is owned by Americom Limited Partnership. The station airs an alternative rock format known as "96.1 The Zone", after its translator in Reno on 96.1 FM. The station's studios are located on Matley Lane in East Reno, and its transmitter is located near Veterans Parkway in Reno, just south of the Truckee River and the Sparks city limits.

KIHM (920 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Catholic religious radio format. Licensed to Reno, Nevada, United States, it serves the Reno area. The station is owned by Relevant Radio.

Steamboat Creek drains Washoe Lake, flowing north to northeast through Truckee Meadows and finally intersecting the Truckee River, east of Reno, Nevada. Historical documents indicate that in the early 1860s there were at least six mills reducing Comstock ore in Washoe Valley and during these earliest days of the Comstock mining.Steamboat Springs near Galena also drains into Steamboat Creek which was the location of Castle Peak mine. Mercury can be found in tributaries of Steamboat Creek as a result of mining during the 1860s. Due to the difficulty of trans-porting both ore down from Virginia City and timber up the steep grade to Virginia City from Washoe City during the mid 1800s, especially in winter, the sites of extensive milling began to change and Carson City and the Carson River were sources for hauling ore down and lumber up to Virginia City during the mid-1860s In the late 1800s, mills in the Washoe Lake area, Nevada, used mercury (Hg) to remove gold and silver from the ores of the Comstock deposit. Since that time, mercury has been found in Washoe Lake, down Steamboat Creek, and to the Truckee River. The creek continues to be a source of mercury to the Truckee River. Studies have been conducted to determine concentrations of total and methylmercury (MeHg) in surface sediments in the Steamboat Creek watershed. Mercury concentrations measured in channel and bank sediments did not decrease downstream, indicating that mercury contamination has been distributed along the creek's length. Steamboat Creek flows past the newly built Reno Fire House and into the tributary of what is now Marsh Lands of Damonte Ranch Development. Both pond/wetland and channel sites exhibited making up Steamboat Creek show high potential for mercury.

KXEQ (1340 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican format. Licensed to Reno, Nevada, United States, it serves the Reno area. The station is currently owned by Azteca Broadcasting Corporation.

Edward C. Reed High School is a public secondary school in Sparks, Nevada and is one of three public high schools run by the Washoe County School District within the city of Sparks. The school was founded in the winter of 1974 to accommodate the growing population of students at Sparks High School's campus.

Sparks is a city in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. It was founded in 1904, incorporated on March 15, 1905, and is located just east of Reno. The 2020 U.S. Census counted 108,445 residents in the city. It is the fifth most populous city in Nevada. It is named after John Sparks, Nevada Governor (1903–1908), and a member of the Silver Party. Sparks is located within the Reno–Sparks metropolitan area.

The Sparks station is a former passenger train station in Sparks, Nevada. Amtrak service commenced when the company assumed passenger operations in the United States in 1971. Prior to closing in 2009, it was served daily by Amtrak's (the National Railroad Passenger Corporation) California Zephyr, running once daily between Chicago, Illinois, and Emeryville, California (in the San Francisco Bay Area). Although the California Zephyr still passes through Sparks, it no longer stops at the station. In May 2009, the station was closed because of its proximity to Reno (three track miles (4.8 km) to the west). Safety issues also played a part, as the former station was in a freight yard and what appears to be the station building is actually a Union Pacific yard office. Amtrak Thruway bus services continue to stop nearby at Nugget Casino Resort. Freight operations continue under Union Pacific.

The Washoe County Library-Sparks Branch, at a prominent corner location at 814 Victorian St. in Sparks, Nevada, is a historic building that was designed by Nevada architect Frederick J. DeLongchamps and was built in 1931. Also known as Sparks Justice Court, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It was deemed significant for serving as a unique example of the Mediterranean Revival style in Sparks. It is the oldest surviving government building in Sparks.It was built as the Sparks Branch of the Washoe County Library System. In 1965 the library was moved to a bigger building and the City of Sparks Justice Court, which had been in the building already, was expanded to the entire building. In 1992 there were plans to make the building into a museum.

The Mary Lee Nichols School, located at 400-406 Pyramid Way in Sparks, Nevada, was built in 1917 and expanded in 1920 and 1927. It was designed by architect Frederick DeLongchamps and it was also a work of U. Bernasconi. DeLongchamps designed the 1920 and 1927 expansions as well. It includes Mission/spanish Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.At the time of its NRHP listing, the school was in very good condition, with only very modest changes—including along its roofline—from the original appearance of the school. It was then being modified for use by Spark's Foster Grandparent program.: 6 

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, is currently located at 2900 McCarran Way in Sparks, Nevada, United States. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno.
