The Parsons Arboretum (19 acres; 7.6 hectares) is an arboretum and garden located adjacent to the corner of 21st and Briggs Avenue in Glenwood Park, Parsons, Kansas, United States. Built on the former location of the Parsons & Pacific Railroad yard, the Aboretum consists of a daylily bed, wetlands, gazebo, and a wildflower bed. Its history dates back to 1987 when the city established the Parsons Tree Advisory Board. When the Union Pacific Railroad deeded approximately 19 acres (77,000 m2) of land to the City in 1991, the commission was able to organize an arboretum. The Arboretum was developed in 1992, and in 1993 the Parsons Arboretum Foundation, Inc. was established as a not-for-profit organization.

It is the most populous city of Labette County, and the second-most populous city in the southeastern region of Kansas. The Carnegie library was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.The Parsons Public Library moved out to a larger facility in 1977.The building is now home to the Carnegie Arts Center, which hosts art shows and community events.

LCC's main campus is situated in Parsons and satellite campuses are located in Cherokee, Oswego and Pittsburg. The mascot of the school is Chris the Cardinal. Parsons Senior High School is a public secondary school in Parsons, Kansas, United States. It is operated by Parsons USD 503 school district, and serves students of grades 9 to 12. It is the sole high school in the school district. The school colors are blue and gold and the school mascot is "Victor the Viking". It is a member of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and offers a variety of sports programs. Activities teams compete in the 4A division, except football which competes in the 3A division. Extracurricular activities are also offered in the form of performing arts, school publications, and clubs.

Dwayne's Photo is a film processing facility in Parsons, Kansas founded in 1956. It processes film, slides and certain movie films, and offers photo services. Dwayne's Photo was the last Kodak certified Kodachrome processing facility in the world, which stopped accepting rolls of Kodachrome on December 30, 2010, citing Kodak's discontinuation of the necessary developing chemicals.

The Parsons Katy Hospital, located at 400 Katy Ave. in Parsons, Kansas, was built during 1921–1922. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.It was designed by Dallas, Texas architects Robertson and Griesenbeck. It was built at contract cost of $225,000 by H. Barbour.It was deemed significant as "an example of a 1920s hospital. The building retains a high degree of integrity and interprets its unique role in the history of Parsons, Kansas."

Oakwood Cemetery, located at 200 South Leawood, opened on June 1, 1872, as the city cemetery of Parsons, Kansas, United States. The cemetery is notable for two special sections called Antietam Circles, where local veterans of the American Civil War are buried. The two portions of the cemetery were separately purchased in 1886 and 1889 by a local chapter of a veteran's group, the Grand Army of the Republic, Antietam Post No. 64. This portion of the cemetery also contains a rotunda, two Columbiad Canons, an iron arch donated by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1913, and Civil War memorial statues.

The Kansas Army Ammunition Plant (Kansas AAP) was a 13,727-acre (55.55 km2) government-owned, contractor-operated (GOCO) facility, established in 1942, located near Parsons, Kansas. The plant produced ammunition during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The plant was deactivated on March 4, 2009 as part of the Base Realignment and Closure, 2005.The plant is currently owned and operated by Day and Zimmerman, Inc. and primarily produces mortar ammunition.
