Activities teams compete in the 4A division, except football which competes in the 3A division. Extracurricular activities are also offered in the form of performing arts, school publications, and clubs.

Dwayne's Photo was the last Kodak certified Kodachrome processing facility in the world, which stopped accepting rolls of Kodachrome on December 30, 2010, citing Kodak's discontinuation of the necessary developing chemicals.

The Parsons Katy Hospital, located at 400 Katy Ave. in Parsons, Kansas, was built during 1921–1922. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.It was designed by Dallas, Texas architects Robertson and Griesenbeck. It was built at contract cost of $225,000 by H. Barbour.It was deemed significant as "an example of a 1920s hospital. The building retains a high degree of integrity and interprets its unique role in the history of Parsons, Kansas."

Oakwood Cemetery, located at 200 South Leawood, opened on June 1, 1872, as the city cemetery of Parsons, Kansas, United States. The cemetery is notable for two special sections called Antietam Circles, where local veterans of the American Civil War are buried. The two portions of the cemetery were separately purchased in 1886 and 1889 by a local chapter of a veteran's group, the Grand Army of the Republic, Antietam Post No. 64. This portion of the cemetery also contains a rotunda, two Columbiad Canons, an iron arch donated by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1913, and Civil War memorial statues.

The Kansas Army Ammunition Plant (Kansas AAP) was a 13,727-acre (55.55 km2) government-owned, contractor-operated (GOCO) facility, established in 1942, located near Parsons, Kansas. The plant produced ammunition during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The plant was deactivated on March 4, 2009 as part of the Base Realignment and Closure, 2005.The plant is currently owned and operated by Day and Zimmerman, Inc. and primarily produces mortar ammunition.
