Noordenveld, Norg

Norg is a village in the northeastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Noordenveld, Drenthe. It used to be an independent municipality until 1998. Norg is home to two windmills.

De Hoop (English The Hope) is a smock mill in Norg, Drenthe, the Netherlands. It was built in 1857 and is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 30781.

Langelo is a village located in the Netherlands, part of the Noordenveld municipality in Drenthe. Langelo is an esdorp which developed in the middle ages on the higher grounds. It contains two triangular communal pastures. It first appeared in 1225 as Rodolphus de Langele and means "long forest". In 1840, it was home to 125 people.The village is noted for several historic farms, the oldest of which dates to 1792. Society Aardolie, a huge complex that serves as a gas storage facility, is also located in the village.

Huis ter Heide is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Noordenveld municipality in Drenthe. Huis ter Helde started as an inn from 1777 near the sluice. During the 18th century, the heath was cultivated and some farms appeared around the inn. In 1840, the population of Huis ter Heide was 40 people. The inn was rebuilt in 1886, and is currently in use as a farm.On 7 to 8 April 1945, during World War II, 15 Free French paratroopers were dropped in Huis ter Heide as part of Operation Amherst. They had found refugee in farm, but were betrayed. The farm was set on fire, and three paras burnt alive. Three others were killed during the fighting. There is a monument for the French paratroopers at Huis ter Heide.

Lieveren is a village in the Netherlands and is part of the Noordenveld municipality in Drenthe. Lieveren is an esdorp which formed along the Lieverse Diep in the early middle ages. It was first mentioned in 1480 as Tho Liveren. The etymology is unclear. Most of the river has been canalised, however it still meanders through the landscape near Lieveren. In 1840, Lieveren was home to 93 people. The local pub is the only monument of the village.

Alteveer is a hamlet in the Netherlands and it is part of the Noordenveld municipality in Drenthe. Alteveer is not a statistical entity, but does have its own postal code. It was first mentioned in the 1850 and means "all too far", because it was not well connected to the outside world.Alteveer is located outside the built-up area, and is home to an estimated 100 people. The first buildings were sod houses which were later replaced by little stone farms. Nowadays it has become an expensive suburban area of Roden because of its serene quietness and forests.

Norgervaart is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Noordenveld municipality in Drenthe. It is located along the eponymous canal. The canal between Norg and Huis ter Heide was completed in 1816.Norgervaart is not a statistical entity, and is listed under Huis ter Heide in the postal code. There are about 20 houses in Norgervaart.
