Castle Forbes

Keig ( KEEG) is a village within the local government area of Aberdeenshire Council in the North East of Scotland and is located within the Marr area of Aberdeenshire three miles (five kilometres) from Alford. It lies on the B992 road between Insch and the village of Whitehouse.

The Gordon Way is a waymarked hiking trail in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It runs for 11+1⁄2 miles (18.5 km) through the Bennachie Forest. The route was one of a series maintained by the Forestry Commission and Aberdeenshire Council. In 2016, the council withdrew completely from its maintaining the route (a cost of £9,486 per year) due to budgetary constraints.

Auchleven (Scottish Gaelic: Achadh Leamhan) is a village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Located approximately 4 miles (6 kilometres) south of Insch, 17 mi (27 km) south of Huntly and 12 mi (19 km) north-west of Inverurie. It is also known as Premnay, the name of the parish in which it is located.

Lickleyhead Castle is a well-restored L-plan castle, dating from around 1600, a little south of Auchleven, by the banks of the Gadie Burn, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.Alternative spellings are Licklihead and Licklyhead Castle.

Bennachie ( ben-ə-HEE; Scottish Gaelic: Beinn na Cìche) is a range of hills in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It has several tops, the highest of which, Oxen Craig, has a height of 528 metres (1,732 ft). Though not particularly high, compared to other peaks within Scotland, the mountain is very prominent, owing to its isolation and the relative flatness of the surrounding terrain, and dominates the skyline from several viewpoints. The peak that stands out the most visually is Mither Tap (518 m, 1699 feet) and from its top there are good views of the county to the north and east. Most of the tops lie along an east / west ridge, with the exception of Millstone Hill (409 m) an outlier or spur which is separated from and to the south of the main ridge. Mither Tap has an Iron Age fort on its summit. Unlike with many other hilltop forts in the area, there are no signs of vitrification in the stone. Bennachie is visible from a number of distant points; to the north it is visible from Longman Hill, a point considerably to the north.

Insch railway station is a railway station serving the village of Insch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Aberdeen to Inverness Line, between Inverurie and Huntly, 27 miles 47 chains (44.4 km) from Aberdeen.

Castle Croft was located near New Leslie farm, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south-west of Insch, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was the property of the Leslie family from the later 15th century. By the early 17th century, it was the residence of the Leith family, before they built and occupied Leith Hall from 1650. The castle is recorded as being in ruins in 1724, and the final remains were removed in 1842. No trace of the castle can be seen today.

Dunnideer Castle, now ruined, was a tower house located near Insch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was built c. 1260 partially from the remains of an existing vitrified hill fort in the same location. It consisted of a single rectangular tower of 15 m by 12.5 m with walls 1.9 m thick. Evidence suggests that a first-floor hall existed and that it had several floors.The tower house is built within an older prehistoric vitrified hillfort dating to c250 BC, excavated by Dr Murray Cook of Rampart Scotland.The prehistoric fort and tower house is a scheduled monument.

Ardoyne is a rural area near Insch in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Buchanstone railway station is a former railway station in Aberdeenshire. On the Great North of Scotland Railway, the station was on the north side of the track. It was opened in November 1854 and closed to passenger traffic in September 1866. The building was demolished before 1901 and nothing visible remains. The railway line is still in use as the Aberdeen to Inverness Line.
