Denton railway station

Denton Island is a major road junction near Denton in Greater Manchester. It is a grade-separated roundabout which is both Junction 24 of the M60 motorway and the western terminus (Junction 1) of the M67 motorway. The A57 road also runs west from the junction into Manchester city centre, and east as slip roads to/from the M67 arm into Denton and towards Hyde. Denton railway station is located underneath the M67 arm of the junction.

The Audenshaw Reservoirs were constructed between 1877 and 1882 by Manchester Corporation. They are located between Audenshaw and Denton, in Greater Manchester, England. Their construction was overseen by John Frederick Bateman. Part of the village of Audenshaw was demolished to make way for the three reservoirs. Also destroyed to allow their construction was a section of Nico Ditch.

Denton Urban District was a local government district in England from 1894 to 1974. Denton was originally a township in the ancient parish of Manchester in the Salford Hundred of Lancashire. In 1866 it became a civil parish in its own right. The Denton parish was expanded on 31 December 1894 by gaining the former area of Haughton;. The Local Government Act 1894 created the urban district of Denton in the administrative county of Lancashire which consisted of the whole of the enlarged civil parish. There were minor boundary changes in 1933 and 1937 with the Manchester and Stockport county boroughs which did not affect any population. In 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, the assets and area of the district were transferred to the newly created metropolitan borough of Tameside.

Hyde Hall in Denton (grid reference SJ91809427) is Grade II* Listed Building and was home to a branch of the Hyde family of Denton and Hyde. The building was built by partially timber and then was partially faced with brick and stone. Below the Hyde coat of arms is an inscription dating the hall to at least 1625, and was originally built in the sixteenth or seventeenth century. In 1642 one of the residents of Hyde Hall, Robert Hyde, raised troops to aid the besieged Parliamentarians in Manchester during the English Civil War. The hall is privately owned and is listed on the Buildings at Risk Register, rating its condition as "poor".

St Thomas More RC College located in Denton, Greater Manchester, England is a comprehensive school previously known as St Thomas More RC High School.St Thomas More has a roll of approximately 780 pupils and 40 teaching staff.The school was opened in 1964 and gained Specialist College status in Mathematics and Computing in 2004. Following its designation as a high performing specialist college it was awarded a second specialism in Applied Learning in 2008 and awarded Leading Edge status in 2010.

Audenshaw is a market town in Tameside, Greater Manchester, England, 4.9 miles (7.9 km) east of Manchester. Historically part of Lancashire, in 2011 it had a population of 11,419.The name derives from Aldwin, a Saxon personal name, and the Old English suffix shagh meaning "Woodland". Nico Ditch, an early-medieval linear earthwork possibly built as a defensive barrier against Vikings, runs through the area. Medieval Audenshaw was a division of the township of Ashton in the county of Lancashire. Audenshaw expanded as a centre for textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution and the Victorian era with inhabitants employed in hat-making, cotton-spinning, calico-printing, and silk-weaving. In 1974, Audenshaw Urban District became part of the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside.
