Hilton in Columbus, Georgia was built in 1843 for Dr. Lovick Pierce, who bought the land in 1838. It was built as a "comfortable" four-room house on its own city block, with a driveway avenue of cedar trees leading to it from Macon Road.He was a medical doctor in Philadelphia and became a Methodist minister.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The NRHP listing included 6 acres (2.4 ha) with two contributing buildings.Its architecture is described as "Italian Villa" style, which may relate to Italianate architecture. The house was restored in 1936.

Temple Israel is the second oldest Jewish congregation in Georgia, United States. Founded in 1854 as Temple B'nai Israel, a Charter Member of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, now the Union for Reform Judaism, it remains a congregation affiliated with Reform Judaism. Today the Jewish population of Columbus is less than 750 individuals and Temple Israel community retains around 150 members.

St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School is named for Saint Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary, and Pope Pius XII (Eugenio Pacelli). The school's history stretches back to 1868. Columbus High School (CHS) is a public high school located in Columbus, Georgia, United States. It serves as one of the Muscogee County School District's liberal arts magnet schools. It opened in 1890. In 2018, the school ranked second in the state of Georgia, 105th in the nation, and 21st among magnet schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Green Island Hills is a residential neighborhood within the city of Columbus, Georgia, United States. Avondale is a neighborhood in south-central Columbus, Georgia located adjacent to and southeast of the central business district in Downtown. It has been a part of the federally recognized Columbus Historic Riverfront Industrial District since 1978. In recent years, the area has experienced an influx of residents and new businesses. It is generally categorized as the area bound by Buena Vista Road and Wynnton Road to the north, 21st Avenue to the south, Brown Avenue to the east, and 10th Ave to the west. In 2009, the estimated population of the area was 3,326.

George Washington Carver High School is a public secondary school in Columbus, Georgia. It served as the high school for black students until the public schools were integrated. A 2009 tax amendment provided funds to rebuild the school, which reopened in 2012.

The Aflac Building, located in Columbus, Georgia, was ordered in late November 1974, the groundbreaking ceremony took place January 4, 1975, and the tower was complete and occupied on December 19, 1975. The tower is the tallest building in the U.S. state of Georgia outside of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area, Savannah, and Augusta. It Is located about 1 mile east of downtown. The building is 278 feet (85 m) tall. It serves as the headquarters for Aflac, an insurance company. The tower was to modernize the downtown Columbus area along with the Columbus government center built a year earlier.

Highland Hall, located in MidTown Columbus, Georgia was built in 1857 by the Ellis family and originally sat on a ten-acre lot. It was named to the National Register of Historic Places on 1980.
