Pacelli High School (Columbus, Georgia)

St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School is named for Saint Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary, and Pope Pius XII (Eugenio Pacelli). The school's history stretches back to 1868. Located in Columbus, Georgia, St. Anne-Pacelli is the only Preschool (age 1)-12th grade Catholic school serving southwestern Georgia.

It has the longest urban whitewater rafting course in the world constructed on the Chattahoochee River.

Green Island Hills is a residential neighborhood within the city of Columbus, Georgia, United States. Homes in Green Island Hills range from Georgian, Tudor and Spanish Revival to Craftsman, with new modern homes popping up every month. With its central location, developers are building homes in the $400,000 plus range. The neighborhood consists of a mix of 1960s up to present day homes.

Avondale is a neighborhood in south-central Columbus, Georgia located adjacent to and southeast of the central business district in Downtown. It has been a part of the federally recognized Columbus Historic Riverfront Industrial District since 1978. In recent years, the area has experienced an influx of residents and new businesses. It is generally categorized as the area bound by Buena Vista Road and Wynnton Road to the north, 21st Avenue to the south, Brown Avenue to the east, and 10th Ave to the west. In 2009, the estimated population of the area was 3,326.

The Muscogee County School District (MCSD) is the county government agency which operates the public schools in Muscogee County, Georgia. The district serves as the designated school district all parts of the county, except Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning), for grades K-12. Fort Moore children are zoned to Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools for grades K-8. However high school students attend the public high schools in the respective counties they are located in. Any Fort Moore pupil, however, may attend Muscogee County schools if their parents wish, as per House Bill 224. The district does not give transportation to HB224 transfers.

NerdaCon was a multi-genre fan convention (first seen as a "gaming, popular arts, and crafts convention") held annually since 2007 at Columbus State University by the school's Campus Nerds group, a campus organization that describes itself as "an organization that embraces all special interests and gives its members a community of like minded individuals". Each year, the con was titled "NerdaCon vX", where "X" is the number of the con (The first was "v1", the second was "v2", etc.). As it was a multi-genre convention, it had no general focus other than that of the Nerds, in that the panels, guests, and dealers each added a focus toward anime, manga, science fiction, gaming, comic books, zombie apocalypse, or a combination of these or other generally nerdy or geeky things to add to the atmosphere. NerdaCon was a free event to the general public until NerdaCon v9, in which it switched to a paid admission system in order to support its move from Columbus State University to the Columbus Convention and Trade Center in 2015, where it had been for NerdaCon v10 and v11. NerdaCon helped support organizations such as Children's Miracle Network and the Hero Initiative through donations. By tradition, the convention was held on a Friday and Saturday in November, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM on the Friday, and 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM on the Saturday. However, since NerdaCon v6 was held on November 11, 2011 (11/11/11), each day was extended by 11 minutes, making it end at 11:11 PM.

Hilton in Columbus, Georgia was built in 1843 for Dr. Lovick Pierce, who bought the land in 1838. It was built as a "comfortable" four-room house on its own city block, with a driveway avenue of cedar trees leading to it from Macon Road.He was a medical doctor in Philadelphia and became a Methodist minister.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The NRHP listing included 6 acres (2.4 ha) with two contributing buildings.Its architecture is described as "Italian Villa" style, which may relate to Italianate architecture. The house was restored in 1936.

Downtown Columbus, Georgia, also called "Uptown" (see here), is the central business district of the city of Columbus, Georgia. The commercial and governmental heart of the city has traditionally been toward the eastern end of Downtown Columbus, between 10th Street and 1st Avenue. Recent developments, particularly between Broadway and 2nd Avenue, have expanded the boundaries of the "central" part of the neighborhood. The term "Downtown Columbus" can also mean this smaller, more commercial area, particularly when used in the context of the city's nightlife and restaurants. South of Broadway is a much more residential area, characterized by historic homes, new infill construction, and some public housing. This part of Downtown Columbus has the highest concentration of hotels, particularly along Front Avenue, and the Broadway commercial corridor is the center of business.
