Maplewood (Columbia, Missouri)

The David Gordon House and Collins Log Cabin were two historic homes located at Columbia, Missouri. The David Gordon House is a two-story, frame I-house. The 13-room structure incorporated original construction from about 1823 and several additions from the 1830s, 1890s and 1930s. The Collins Log Cabin was built in 1818, and is a single pen log house of the story and a loft design. They represent some of the first permanent dwellings in Columbia.: 2–4  The house, located in what is now Stephens Lake Park burned after arson in the early 1990s. The log cabin survived has been relocated from Stephens Lake Park to the campus of the Boone County Historical Society.They were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Boone County Historical Society was established in 1924. Located in Columbia, Missouri, United States, the Boone County Historical Museum has been collecting, preserving and exhibiting artifacts and records of the people of Boone County, Missouri. The campus includes a history museum, an art gallery, a genealogical library, and a number of historic structures. The museum owns historical photographs spanning back to the late 19th century, revealing a Columbia that many people have never seen. The historical society and museum is a cultural and arts destination for Columbia, Missouri and surrounding communities.

Father Augustine Tolton Regional Catholic High School is the first private, Roman Catholic high school in Columbia, Missouri, built in 2010. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City. The school is named after Missouri native Augustus Tolton, the first self-identified black Catholic priest in the United States. The school's enrollment for the 2017-18 school year was 285 students.

The Gans Creek Recreation Area is a 320-acre public park in Columbia, Missouri, United States. Its name derives from Gans Creek, which flows through the property. It borders the Rock Bridge Memorial State Park on its western edge. The park is owned by the City of Columbia and operated by the Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation.

Rock Bridge Memorial State Park is a geological preserve and public recreation area encompassing 2,273 acres (920 ha), five miles (8.0 km) south of Columbia in Boone County, Missouri off of Missouri Route 163. The park is home to 12 caves.The state park is noted for its excellent examples of karst landforms including the rock bridge, sinkholes, and an underground stream at the cave known as Devil's Icebox. The rock bridge was created by the collapse of a section of a cave which resulted in a small arch of rock being left to form a natural bridge over the creek. The park is the only known home of Kenkia glandulosa, more commonly known as the pink planarian.

Grindstone Creek is a stream in Boone County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of Hinkson Creek.The stream headwaters arise at 38°55′44″N 92°17′32″W at the confluence of the North and South Forks just east of US Route 63 adjacent to the southeast side of Columbia. The stream meanders approximately 1.5 miles to its confluence with Hinkson Creek, just south of the University of Missouri campus at 38°55′40″N 92°19′19″W.Grindstone Creek was named for the deposits of rock along its course which were the source of grindstones. Grindstone Parkway, a major road in Columbia, Missouri, is named after the creek.

KBIA (91.3 FM), is a National Public Radio-member station in Columbia, Missouri. It carries regional news coverage, locally produced news shows, original talk shows, as well as NPR news programs including All Things Considered and Morning Edition. The station is owned by the University of Missouri, and operates its own independent newsroom. The stations hosts Broadcast and Radio students from the Missouri School of Journalism. KBIA also operates satellite stations KKTR 89.7 in Kirksville (owned by Truman State University), and KAUD 90.5 in Mexico, Missouri. KBIA also broadcasts three HD Radio services: KBIA2, which airs classical music (that is simulcast on KMUC); and KBIA3, which airs an AAA format and carries normal KBIA programming when the main service airs special coverage.

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri is a school of veterinary medicine in Columbia, Missouri. It is one of only 30 veterinary colleges in the United States accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and only one in Missouri. In 2019 U.S. News & World Report ranked the school 19th best veterinary school in the United States.

Sherman's Dam was an impoundment built on Hinkson Creek, Boone County, Missouri. The dam was operational between 1894 and 1920. The dam was constructed to provide a water supply for the city of Columbia, Missouri. The remains of the stone abutments can still be seen and accessed from the walking trail at Stephen Lake Park just upstream of the East Broadway bridge.

KCOU (88.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting the College radio format. Licensed to Columbia, Missouri, United States, the station is currently owned by the Missouri Students Association at the University of Missouri.

The Columbia Area Career Center is a vocational school in Columbia, Missouri operated by Columbia Public Schools providing career and technical education. Students are mainly from Columbia's four public high schools: Hickman High School, Douglass High School, Rock Bridge High School, and Battle High School. The Career Center also serves students from Columbia Independent School, Christian Fellowship School, Heritage Academy, Tolton High School, and Centralia High School. The school also offers professional and community education for adults. It is located just north of Rock Bridge High School in South Columbia.

Sanborn Field is an agricultural experiment field, located on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, Missouri. Established in 1888, it was the first facility in the United States intended to measure erosion and run-off for differing crops and agricultural practices. Work at Sanborn Field was influential in the establishment of soil conservation policy in the United States. The field was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964.The field is currently managed as part of the Agricultural Extension Station under the university's School of Natural Resources.
