Carmel transmitting station

Carmel is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales near the village of Cross Hands. Carmel is on the A476 and is approximately half way between Crosshands and Llandeilo. Nearby is the National Nature Reserve "Carmel Woods", managed jointly by the Grasslands Trust, Tarmac, and the Countryside Council for Wales. Carmel also lies near the Ogof Twn Siôn Cati and Carreg Cennen Castle caves.

Cernydd Carmel is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Carmel Woods National Nature Reserve is located on part of the SSSI, and is open to the public.Pant-y-Llyn at Cernydd Carmel is the only turlough in Britain, a type of seasonal lake found in limestone areas, the other examples of which are in Ireland. Pant-y-Llyn fills to a depth of about 3 metres (10 ft) each autumn, and remains full until it empties completely into a sink hole the following summer. There are no surface drainage streams.

Llanfihangel Aberbythych is a community in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The population recorded at the 2011 census was 1,344. It is bordered by Llangathen, Llandeilo, Dyffryn Cennen, Llandybie, Gorslas and Llanarthney, all of which are in Carmarthenshire. There is no village of Llanfihangel Aberbythych – the name is taken from St Michael's Church, which dates from 1849, at Golden Grove (Welsh: Gelli Aur), about 3 miles (5 km) south-west of Llandeilo. It now belongs to the Church in Wales parish of Catheiniog. Villages include Carmel and Maesybont.

Caeau Blaen-yr-Orfa is an unimproved grassland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthen & Dinefwr, Wales.

Llyn Llech Owain is a shallow lake with an area of 3.5 hectares (8.6 acres) which gives its name to the country park in which it sits, it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest which was designated in 1993. The country park is managed by Carmarthenshire County Council and has an area of 73 hectares (180 acres). The park is near the village of Gorslas with its entrance on Church Road.

Pen-y-groes is a village in Carmarthenshire, South Wales which developed as a settlement as a result of the anthracite coal trade. The main colliery was the Emlyn colliery, which opened in 1893 and closed in 1939. The village has a primary school. It also has a Rugby Union club, affiliated to the Welsh Rugby Union, and a cricket team which plays in the Carmarthenshire League. It is named after Paenygroes Independent Chapel, a large building at the centre of the village. There is also a Baptist chapel, Calfaria, founded in 1896. The village was well known as the headquarters of the Apostolic Church. The denomination hosted their International Convention in the village every year from 1916 to 2002. The church moved its main office to Swansea in 2002 but they still have their Bible college and substantial land in the locality.

Gorslas is a village and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, located on the A476 road northwest of Cross Hands. The village population at the 2011 census was 4,066. Neighbouring villages are Cefneithin and Penygroes. The community is bordered by the Carmarthenshire communities of Llanarthney, Llanfihangel Aberbythych, Llandybie, Llannon, Pontyberem, and Llanddarog. The community includes the settlements of Drefach, Cwmmawr, Foelgastell, and Cefneithin. Gorslas will have a new primary school, opening on 7 September 2022, a year later than planned following the coronavirus pandemic. The school will be a community based centre with local groups able to make use of its facilities.

Milo is a small village of some 50 homes in the parish of Llanfihangel Aberbythych, some three miles north of Ammanford in Carmarthenshire, Wales. According to the 2001 census, the parish is home to 1,277 inhabitants.

Maesybont is a small village near Gorslas in Carmarthenshire, West Wales. The community consists of one school, a Welsh chapel with graveyard and several homes. The houses are widely dispersed, with an average of 1-acre (4,000 m2) of land apiece. Many of the homes in the village of Maesybont are large by European standards, differentiated predominantly by having Fritzl Barns, rather than traditional Dutch barns. The local community benefits from a smallholding 100m down from the Chapel that sells free range eggs. "Maesybont" is roughly translated as "Bridge over the field". The views from the area are incredible, many famous local residents have noe left unfortunately.

Caeau Rhyd-y-gwiail is an area of grassland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthen & Dinefwr, Wales.

Broad Oak and Thornhill Meadows is a Site of Special Scientific Interest near the village of Cross Hands in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The site comprises grassland, formerly used as pasture for horses and cattle. It is a stronghold of the marsh fritillary butterfly.

Caeau Ffos Fach is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthen & Dinefwr, Wales. Part of this SSSI is a nature reserve owned by the charity Butterfly Conservation primarily because of the population of the rare and legally protected butterfly species the marsh fritillary.
