The Kariwara District Scout Headquarters, previously known as the First Footscray Scout Hall, is a heritage-listed scout hall, located at 4 Hyde Street in Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. Founded as a scouting organisation in 1909, it was the first permanent scout hall in Victoria, completed in 1925 and modified several times since, the building has been in continual used by the Scouting movement since the 1920s. The site was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 4 September 1997 in recognition of its historical and social importance. The Victorian branch of the National Trust identified the site on an unknown date as having some form of heritage potential and was added by the City of Maribyrnong to a non-statutory local heritage list, also on an unknown date.

Footscray Town Hall, also known as Maribyrnong Town Hall since council amalgamations in the 1990s, is a civic building located on Napier Street in Footscray, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The hall was built in 1936 to the design of architect Joseph Plottel in the Romanesque Revival—Richardson Romanesque style. It replaced the previous town hall on the same site, which was demolished in 1935. The building is now used as the main council chambers of the City of Maribyrnong.

Footscray railway station is the junction for the Sunbury, Werribee and Williamstown lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Footscray, and it opened on 17 January 1859.The station is also serviced by V/Line Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong services. A disused signal box is located on the island platform at the up (Flinders Street) end of Platform 5, while a pair of dual gauge tracks form the mainly freight only South Kensington–West Footscray line under the station, running in a cutting before entering the Bunbury Street tunnel, providing a rail link to the Port of Melbourne and other freight terminals, as well as access to Southern Cross for the NSW TrainLink XPT, The Overland, and V/Line Albury services.

The City of Maribyrnong is a local government area within the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Australia. It comprises the inner western suburbs between 5 and 10 kilometres from Melbourne city centre. It was formed in 1994 from the merger of the City of Footscray and parts of the City of Sunshine. In June 2018, Maribyrnong had a population of 91,387. According to Local Government Victoria, Maribyrnong has the second most ethnically diverse population in Victoria, with 40% of residents born outside Australia. Many of Maribyrnong's former industrial sites have been replaced by residential developments. New residents are generally more educated and higher income. Maribyrnong attracted new cultural groups. Its name comes from the nearby Maribyrnong River.

The City of Footscray was a local government area about 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of 17.10 square kilometres (6.60 sq mi) and existed from 1859 until 1994. Its civic centre, after which it was named, was Footscray.

Henderson House, also known as Henderson's Piggery or Henderson's Piggery & Wharf, is a former house and piggery, now a community arts centre, located at 43-45 Moreland Street in Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. Built in 1873 as a residential dwelling for the Henderson family on the western bank of the Maribyrnong River, the building was acquired by the local government in the 1970s and repurposed for use as the Footscray Community Arts Centre, and comprises an urban park leading to the Maribyrnong River Trail and the river. Located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung, the house was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 9 October 1974 in recognition of its historical and architectural significance; and the adjacent Lemprieres Building, used as part of the piggery, was added to the now defunct Register of the National Estate on 21 October 1980.

The Footscray Wharves Precinct, also known as the Saltwater River Crossing Site and Footscray Wharves Precinct, is an historical former working port, wharves, river crossing location, disused industrial site, and the location for early residential housing, situated on the west bank of the Maribyrnong River, located in Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. The site contains significant archaeological remains which illustrate the colonial development of the area in terms of the presence of public houses, residences and intensive industry. Located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong people, the precinct was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 11 December 1997 in recognition of its historical, archaeological and social importance. Various other elements of the site were added to non-statutory heritage lists, including the bluestone steps on the wharf. Since the early 2020s, the Victorian Government and City of Maribyrnong have redeveloped some of the site for community use and increasingly high-density residential apartments.

Seddon railway station is located on the Werribee and Williamstown lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Seddon, and opened on 10 December 1906.

The Barkly Theatre is a former independent cinema theatre located on Barkly Street, Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. Operated as a cinema between 1914 and 1962, the building was repurposed as residential apartments in 2018. The former theatre was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 28 August 1991, and was added to the now defunct Register of the National Estate on 30 June 1992.

Gilmore College for Girls was founded in 1925 as the Footscray Domestic Arts School in response to the vast demand for employment in the Domestic Arts. Aspirations for young women have progressed greatly over the decades and Gilmore College changed and developed continually. Consequently, the name of the College has changed over the decades to reflect the rapid progress in girls’ education. In 1996 the college became Gilmore College in recognition of Dame Mary Gilmore. Gilmore College for Girls ran the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) from year 7 to 10. In 2020, Gilmore College for Girls merged with Footscray City College to become "Footscray High School", retaining both the Barkly Street and Kinnear Street campuses and adding a 3rd campus at Pilgrim Street in 2021.

The Pebbles is a house located at 57A Droop Street, on the corner of Geelong Road, in Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. The house was built in 1920 and is an early and intact example of the popular Australian adaption of the California bungalow style in suburban Melbourne. The property was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 16 October 1997 in recognition of its architectural significance; having been added to non-statutory heritage lists by the Victorian branch of the National Trust on 3 September 1987 and the City of Maribyrnong on an unknown date.
