Shin-koenji Station (新高円寺駅, Shin-kōenji-eki) is a subway station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line in Suginami, Tokyo, Japan, operated by the Tokyo subway operator Tokyo Metro.

Renkō-ji (蓮光寺, Renkōji) is a Buddhist temple in Tokyo, Japan. It is assumed to be the purported location of the ashes of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Indian revolutionary, which have been preserved since September 18, 1945. The small, well-preserved temple was established in 1594 inspired by the God of Wealth and Happiness. It belongs to the Nichiren sect of Buddhism that believes that human salvation lies only in the Lotus Sutra.

Ōmiya Hachiman Shrine (大宮八幡宮, Ōmiya Hachimangū) is a Shinto shrine located in Suginami, Tokyo, Japan. It is a Hachiman shrine, dedicated to the kami Hachiman. It was established in 1063. Its main festival is held annually on September 15. Kami enshrined here include Emperor Ōjin, Empress Jingū and Emperor Chūai in addition to Hachiman.

Takachiho University (高千穂大学, Takachiho daigaku) is a private university in Suginami, Tokyo, Japan, established in 1950. The predecessor of the school was founded in 1903. This university is called "Edo University of Commerce" in Gregory S. Poole's book The Japanese Professor: An Ethnography of a University Faculty (Sense Publishers, 2010. ISBN 978-94-6091-154-5).

The Japanese Society for Preservation of Birds (公益財団法人 日本鳥類保護連盟, Kōeki zaidan hōjin Nihon chōrui hogo renmei), sometimes the "Japanese Association for Preservation of Birds", was founded in 1947, incorporating ten years later, and becoming a Public Interest Incorporated Foundation in 2012. The Society's purpose is "to protect wildlife primarily birds, to promote its conservation, and to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity".

Kōenji Station (高円寺駅, Kōenji-eki) is a railway station on the Chūō Main Line in the Kōenji neighborhood in Suginami, Tokyo. The station, on a four-track section, is served by local and rapid services (not including special rapid services and other fast trains) of the Chūō Main Line on weekdays. On weekends, only local trains make stops at this station. The station uses a special train departure melody during the Koenji Awa Odori festival held in late August. It is within walking distance of Shin-Kōenji Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line.

Kōenji (高円寺) is a district of Tokyo in the Suginami ward, west of Shinjuku. The district's name originates from the old temples in the area. Kōenji is primarily a residential community with easy access to the Shinjuku and Tokyo stations. It was largely unaffected by the 1980s building boom and therefore many of the houses and shops in the area are small and reflect the character of "pre-boom" Japan. Due to its aging retail district and location on a major commuter route, the station area has become a center for small restaurants and "Live Houses" which offer live music. It is also known for having a young population and as a center for suburban underground culture including multiple used record and clothing shops. In 2006, when the Japanese PSE law went into effect restricting the sale of electronic goods built before 2001, Kōenji was chosen as the site for a protest due to its active "retro" culture and used equipment shops.
