The YWCA Building, now the Envision Academy of Arts & Technology and Common Webster, is a historic Young Women's Christian Association building in Oakland, California designed by early female architect Julia Morgan. It was completed in 1915, became an Oakland Designated Landmark in 1977, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Hotel Menlo is a historical building in Oakland, California. The Hotel Menlo was built in 1911. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 29, 2020. The Hotel Menlo was founded on June 1, 1914, in downtown Oakland. Myers and White Company built the hotel and had J.R. Points operate the hotel. (This Hotel Menlo should not be confused with the 1901 Hotel Menlo also called the Lillard or Lillard House in Oakland.) The historical Hotel Menlo was closed due to age and converted a residence hotel. Then to the Empyrean Towers Apartments owned by Richard Singer. Richard Singer had trouble with the law over Empyrean Towers Apartments and went to jail. The seven-story building as two U-shaped floor giving the upper floors more windows. The building is noted for having the oldest working elevator in Oakland. The building had been updated to offer newer and safer apartments.

Harrison and Fifteenth Streets Historic District is a group of seven historical buildings in downtown Oakland, California, United States. The Harrison and Fifteenth Street Historic District buildings were built between 1914 and 1929. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1996. The Harrison and Fifteenth Streets Historic District covers: 1401–1501 Harrison Street, 300–312 14th Street, and 300–349 15th Street. The Harrison and Fifteenth Streets Historic District includes the Mrs. A.E. White Building at 327-349 15th Street, that was also designated an Oakland Landmark (LM-85-319) in 1985. The Mrs. A.E. White three-story building is a Tudor building designed by architect Clay N. Burrell. The White Building has 150 feet (46 m) of store frontage along 15th Street, but this building is only 20.25 feet (6.17 m) deep into the lot. Most of the buildings were built in the late 19th and 20th century Revival architecture.

The Oakland Hotel is a historic building in Oakland, California. It was built as a luxury hotel by P.J. Walker in 1912, with investments from businessmen Francis Marion Smith, Edson Adams and W.W. Garthwaite. From 1943 to 1963, it was a hospital for the United States Army and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. It was subsequently unoccupied until at least the late 1970s.The building was designed in the Renaissance Revival style by architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since September 4, 1979.

Amethod Public Schools (formerly Oakland Charter Academy Inc., doing business as Oakland Charter Academies) is a nonprofit charter school system with headquarters in Oakland, California. The system operates Oakland Charter Academy (OCA) (Oakland's first charter school), Oakland Charter High School (OCHS), Downtown Charter Academy (DCA), Richmond Charter Academy (RCA) Benito Juarez Elementary School and John Henry High School, the latter three based in Richmond.

The Tribune Tower is a 305-ft. (93 m), 22-story building located in downtown Oakland, California. Built in 1906, tower erected in 1923, the 89,251 sq.-ft. (8,291 sq.-m.) building was the tallest building in Oakland constructed in the 1920s. It is currently the 11th tallest building in Oakland. The architecture of the tower, much like The Campanile on the UC Berkeley campus (officially the Sather Tower), was inspired by St Mark's Campanile in Venice, Italy. The building was opened by Joseph R. Knowland on January 1, 1924, as the home of the Oakland Tribune newspaper, and is a symbol of both the Tribune and the city of Oakland.

The Oakland East Bay Symphony (OEBS) is a leading orchestra based in Oakland, California. Michael Morgan held the position of music director and conductor from September 1990 until his death in August 2021. The Paramount Theatre has been the home of the Symphony since 1995. Bryan Nies has been Associate Conductor since 2002. The Symphony presents six programs of music during the season.

The Downtown Oakland Historic District, in the Downtown Oakland area of Oakland, California, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. The listing included 43 contributing buildings, one contributing site and one contributing object.The district is a roughly L-shaped irregular area comprising about 11 city blocks. It includes Oakland's City Hall building, which is separately listed on the National Register.

Oakland is the largest city and the county seat of Alameda County, California. An act to incorporate the city was passed on May 4, 1852, and incorporation was later approved on March 25, 1854. Oakland is a charter city.Oakland's territory covers what was once a mosaic of California coastal terrace prairie, oak woodland, and north coastal scrub. In the late 18th century, it became part of a large rancho grant in the colony of New Spain. Its land served as a resource when its hillside oak and redwood timber were logged to build San Francisco. The fertile flatland soils helped it become a prolific agricultural region. In the late 1860s, Oakland was selected as the western terminal of the Transcontinental Railroad. Following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, many San Francisco citizens moved to Oakland, enlarging the population, increasing its housing stock, and improving its infrastructure. It continued to grow in the 20th century with its busy port, shipyards, and a thriving automobile manufacturing industry.

The Diocese of Oakland (Latin: Diœcesis Quercopolitana) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Northern California. The diocese comprises Alameda and Contra Costa Counties in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Cathedral of Christ the Light serves as the bishop's seat, replacing the Cathedral of Saint Francis de Sales which was demolished after the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. Once a part of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, the Diocese of Oakland remains a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province governed by the metropolitan Archbishop of San Francisco. Its fellow suffragans include the dioceses of Honolulu, Las Vegas, Reno, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Santa Rosa and Stockton. The patron saints of the Diocese of Oakland are Mary, Queen of the World and Saint Francis de Sales.
