The House of Representatives (Majlis al-Nuwaab) is the lower house of the Parliament of Yemen. It shares the legislative power with the Shura Council, the upper house. The Assembly of Representatives has 301 members, elected for a six-year term in single-seat constituencies. It is one of the rare parliamentary chambers in the world to currently have no female representation.The House of Representatives was established in 1990 after the unification of Yemen for a transitional period. An election hasn't been held for the body since 2003. An election was set for 27 April 2009, but president Saleh postponed it by two years on 24 February 2009. However, the election did not take place on 27 April 2011, and was again postponed until the next presidential election, sometime in February 2014. In January 2014, the final session of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) announced that both elections had been delayed, and would occur within 9 months of a referendum on a new constitution which had yet to be drafted. However both the GPC and Houthi representatives on the National Authority for Monitoring the Implementation of NDC Outcomes have refused to vote on the new constitution drafted by the constitution drafting committee, which submitted it in January 2015.In February 2015, the Houthis briefly dissolved parliament before reportedly agreeing to reinstate the 301-member assembly in UN-brokered talks. Under the agreement, it will be augmented by a "people's transitional council" serving as the upper house.Since the civil war, the House of Representatives had held semi-regular sessions in San'aa in Houthi-held territory. In 13 April 2019, the first session was held in Seiyun, in Hadi-controlled Hadhramaut Governorate.

Madhbah (Arabic: مذبح Madhbaḥ), also called Madinat al-Layl or "the city of the night", is a suburb of Sanaa, Yemen, located in the Bani al-Harith District of Amanat al-Asimah Governorate.

Bayt ʽAdhran (Arabic: بيت عذران Bayt ‘Adhrān) is a small village in Bani Matar District of Sanaa Governorate, Yemen. It is located to the west of Sanaa, at the top of the hills overlooking the western edge of the Sanaa plain.

Sana'a University (Arabic: جامعة صنعاء Jāmiʿat Ṣanʿāʾ) was established in 1970 as the first and the primary university in the Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen), now the Republic of Yemen (see also Aden University). It is located in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, and is currently organized with 17 faculties. Previously the university was located at 15°20′53.16″N 44°11′26.83″E. The university includes several accommodation buildings for staff and students and is partnered with the Kuwait University Hospital for medical students.

Al Wahdah District is a district of the Amanat Al Asimah Governorate, Yemen. As of 2003, the district had a population of 99,956 inhabitants.

ʽAttan (Arabic: عطان ‘Aţţān), also transliterated as ʽIttan and known historically as ʽAḍudān, is a village in Bani Matar District of Sanaa Governorate, Yemen. It is a short distance southwest of Sanaa, with the two being separated by a long, low hill.

The Hanthel Mosque (Arabic: مسجد حنظل) is a mosque in Sana'a, Yemen. It lies to the west of Al-Tahrir Square, near the offices of the Ministry of Civil Services and north of the Egyptian Embassy.

House of Folklore is a museum in central Sana'a, Yemen. It is located southwest of the Al-Tahrir Square and south of the Egyptian Embassy and north of the Chinese Embassy. Founded on 11 April 2004 under the permission of the Ministry of Culture, it is "a cultural, research, non-profit and non-governmental organization works on collecting and documenting the Yemeni Folklore". The house was closed in May 2010 due to financial difficulties.

The Chinese Ambassador to Yemen was the official representative of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Yemen. Due to the Yemeni Civil War (2014–present) in December 2014, by April 2015, China withdrew all their citizens and closed the embassy in Sana'a.

The siege of Sana'a took place when the Sasanian under military officer Vahrez besieged the Aksumite city of Sana'a in 570.

Sanaa (Arabic: صَنْعَاء Ṣanʿāʾ), also spelled San'a' or Sana, is a governorate of Yemen. Its capital is Sanaa, which is also the national capital. However, the city of Sanaa is not part of the governorate but instead forms the separate governorate of Amanat Al-Asemah. The Governorate covers an area of 13,850 km2 (5,350 sq mi). As of 2004, the population was 2,918,379 inhabitants. Within this place is Jabal An-Nabi Shu'ayb or Jabal Hadhur, the highest mountain in the nation and the Arabian Peninsula.

The siege of Sanaa, also known as the Seventy Day Siege, took place between 28 November 1967 and 7 February 1968, becoming a critical battle to determine the outcome of the North Yemen Civil War. With the eventual failure of the royalists to retake the city, Republicans won a de facto tactical victory in the war, retaining the seat of power, and gradually winning international recognition as a legitimate North Yemen government.
