Hazewind, Gieten

Gieten is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 14 km east of Assen.

Nieuw-Annerveen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌniuˈɑnərveːn]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 16 km east of Assen. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1874 as Annerveen (Nieuw). It uses Nieuw (new) to distinguish between Oud-Annerveen. The former school is nowadays used as a village house.

Spijkerboor is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 16 km northeast of Assen. The village was first mentioned in 1792 as "de Spykerboor", and means meandering river. Before the Stadskanaal was dug, all the peat in the area had to be transported over the Hunze river. Spijkerboor was located at one of the locks in the river where you had to pay toll.

Bonnerveen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 18 km east of Assen. The statistical area "Bonnerveen", which can also include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 100.
