Schodack Center, New York

Schodack is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 12,965 at the 2020 census. The town name is derived from the Mahican word, Escotak. The town is in the southwestern part of the county. Schodack is southeast of Albany, New York.

Blink Bonnie is a historic home located at Schodack in Rensselaer County, New York. It was built about 1850 and remodeled and enlarged about 1915. It is a two-story, frame building with a low pitched gable roof in the Greek Revival style. There is a large two-story rear wing. It features a one-story, Colonial Revival style entrance porch added about 1915. Also on the property is a large English barn dated to about 1900, a garage, and an ice house / chicken coop.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Elmbrook Farm is a historic farm complex located at Schodack in Rensselaer County, New York. The farmhouse itself was built about 1830 and modified about twenty years later to include Greek Revival architecture. The complex also includes a barn (ca. 1790), a shop / office (ca. 1800), a milk shed, a corn crib, a cinder block garage, and a small family burial plot.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

East Schodack is a hamlet in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. It comprises the ZIP code of 12063. It is located southeast of Albany and Troy, New York, in the town of Schodack. It is located in the northeastern corner of the town, and was formerly called Scotts Corners, which is also the name of a hamlet in Westchester County. New York Route 150 is the main highway in the community. The East Schodack Fire District, the local fire department, had an election on December 9, 2009.

Brookview, New York is a small hamlet located in Schodack, New York and just outside Castleton, New York. Brookview is named for the Moordener Kill that runs through the hamlet. Brookview Road runs from East Greenbush through Brookview and then to Castleton-on-Hudson, New York. The hamlet of Brookview, however, includes only a small portion of Brookview Road. A section of Brookview Road is part of New York State Route 150. Brookview is mostly residential. A train station was located in the hamlet until it was taken down in the mid 20th century.

East Greenbush is mostly within the southern part of the town of East Greenbush, but a small section of the community extends southward into the town of Schodack. U.S. Routes 9 and 20 pass through the community, and the western end of U.S. Route 4 begins immediately north of the community.

District School No. 3 is a historic one-room school building located at Castleton-on-Hudson in Rensselaer County, New York. It was built in 1870 and is a one-story, rectangular massed, brick building in the Italianate style. It remained in use as a school until 1951. Also on the property is a gable roofed garage (1931), a coal / wood shed, and a stone capped well.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

East Greenbush is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of Albany. The population was 16,473 at the 2010 census. The word Greenbush is derived from the Dutch het groen bosch, referring to the pine woods that originally covered the land. The first settlement of the land now known as East Greenbush was made by tenants under patroon Kiliaen van Rensselaer circa 1630. The town was established in 1855 as Clinton, and was renamed in 1858. It is mostly suburban along its major highways and rural in the southwestern and northeastern corners. Interstate 90 traverses the town. It contains the western (or southern) terminus of US Route 4 and the northern terminus of NY Route 9J; as well as US Route 9 and US Route 20. The latter run concurrently, under the name Columbia Turnpike, which is often referred to by the locals as "9 and 20."

Nassau Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in the towns of Schodack and Nassau in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.Nassau Lake CDP is in southern Rensselaer County, surrounding a lake of the same name. The CDP includes the hamlets of Rosecrans Park, Braeside, and Morey Park, and it is bordered to the south by the village of Nassau. The CDP is 13 miles (21 km) southeast of Albany, the state capital. The outlet of Nassau Lake, the Valatie Kill, flows south to Kinderhook Creek, which continues southwest to Stockport Creek and the Hudson River. The Nassau Lake is currently polluted with PCBs, industrial hazardous waste and carcinogens from the Dewey Loeffel Landfill. In 2019, the Community Advisory Group was founded on the basis of communication about future plans regarding this lake and the pollution.

Nassau is a village located in the Town of Nassau in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 1,133 at the 2010 census. The Village of Nassau is in the southern part of the county in the Town of Nassau, with a small western portion in the Town of Schodack. Nassau is bordered on the west by the Valatie Kill and Schodack township and is 15 miles east of Albany, New York state's capital city.

Albany Avenue Historic District is a national historic district located at Nassau in Rensselaer County, New York. It consists of 10 contributing buildings. They date from about 1800 to about 1920 and include seven Federal styles residences, two early 20th century residences, and one Greek Revival temple-style residence.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Columbia High School (or CHS) is a public high school located on Luther Road in East Greenbush, New York, USA. It is the only high school for the East Greenbush Central School District and has a 2019-20 enrollment of approximately 1,230 students in grades 9-12. The school has a thirteen to one student to teacher ratio that is below the state average. Columbia High School, commonly referred to CHS, is home to the "Blue Devils". The principal is Michael Harkin, who replaced John Sawchuk in January 2018.
