The Haina River is a river of the Dominican Republic. It is located on the oriental limit of hydrographic district of Azua, Baní, and San Cristóbal.In 1496, according to Floyd, "Miguel Diaz and Francisco de Garay, working their way down the Haina river, discovered rich deposits of gold in the river sands perhaps twenty-five miles from the coast." Bartolome Colon built a fort along this river, "well situated within the gold region", which he named San Cristobal.

Herrera International Airport (IATA: HEX, ICAO: MDHE) was an airport located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Herrera used to be the hub of most Dominican airlines before being closed in 2006 and replaced by La Isabela International Airport, also in Santo Domingo. The airport had domestic flights and connections to Puerto Rico, Cuba, and other Caribbean islands.

On 8 April 2025, the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic collapsed during a live performance by merengue musician Rubby Pérez. The structural failure occurred at approximately 12:44 a.m. AST, resulting in 233 fatalities and more than 180 injuries. There were approximately 515 people in the club at the time of the collapse. It is one of the deadliest non-natural disasters in the country's history.

Manoguayabo is a small sector of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. It is mainly populated by the lower class, and has a large Haitian migrant population. It is one of the poorest sectors around the Santo Domingo area. The sector is best known as the birthplace of composers Cuco Valoy, Ramón Orlando and Cheché Abreu; plus Major League Baseball pitcher, Pedro Martínez, who has contributed to the area building churches, schools and a baseball field.
