Dunton Wayletts

The Dunton Campus (informally Ford Dunton or Dunton) is a major automotive research and development facility located in Dunton Wayletts, Laindon, Essex, United Kingdom, which is owned and operated by Ford Motor Company. Ford Dunton houses the main design team of Ford of Europe alongside its Merkenich Technical Centre in Cologne, Germany. With the closure of Ford's Warley site (located in Brentwood, Essex) in September 2019, the staff from the UK division of Ford Motor Credit Company and Ford's UK Sales and Marketing departments have moved to the Dunton site. As of November 2019, Dunton had around 4,000 staff working at the site.

Billericay Rural District was a local government district in Essex, England from 1894 to 1934. It consisted of the following parishes: Basildon Brentwood (1894–1899; used to create Brentwood Urban District) Bowers Gifford Childerditch Downham Dunton East Horndon Great Burstead Hutton Ingrave Laindon Lee Chapel Little Burstead Little Warley Mountnessing Nevendon North Benfleet Pitsea Ramsden Bellhouse Ramsden Crays Shenfield South Weald Vange West Horndon WickfordIn 1934 the district was abolished. Hutton, Ingrave and South Weald went to Brentwood Urban District and most of the remainder went to Billericay Urban District with parts of some parishes (1,659 acres) transferred to Chelmsford Rural District.

Little Burstead is a village in Essex, England. It lies 2¼ miles SSW of Billericay, and 4½ E by S of Brentwood railway station.In 1086 the parish had 9 households and was held by the Bishop of London. Before the Norman conquest it was held by Godwin of Benfield. In the 19th century the parish had an area of 1,829 acres and a population in 1870 of 186 (37 houses).The ancient parish of Little Burstead was located in Barstable Hundred and was joined to Billericay Rural District when that was established in 1894. The civil parish was abolished in 1937 when it was merged with several other parishes into Billericay Urban District Little Burstead Parish was re-established in 1997 and the parish council has five elected / co-opted members. Electorate at 1 June 2011 of 327, The Parish Council regularly meets bi-monthly at Little Burstead Village Hall. It forms part of Basildon district. the population increasing to 395 at the 2011 census.The parish church is the church of St. Mary the Virgin, set in a picturesque but isolated rural situation on high ground overlooking the Thames valley. It was built in late Norman times as a windowed oratory and was originally much smaller. The roof of the nave would have been much lower, and the door was on the north side opposite the present south door, which is 15th century. The altar was almost certainly sited in the recess to the side of the present pulpit. Extensive alterations would have occurred when the chancel was added in the mid-14th century. The walls of the church are built of ragstone rubble and of puddingstone (a conglomerate of pebbles in a siliceous matrix found locally) with limestone and brick dressing. The round stones on either side of the porch are probably the base of a churchyard calvary. The south door is 15th century, and the porch was added much later. The font is early 16th century. The gallery was added in 1880.A probable explanation for the present isolated position of the church might be explained by looking further back in history than the modern site of the village and considering that the back of the church was in fact 'the front'. The road that now leads to the church probably did not exist at the time it was built and the main route from Billericay ran from Tye Common, through Wiggins Lane, across to Hatches Farm road and up Botney Hill towards Herongate. Three manors were sited between Botney Hill and the Dunton road and standing in this area one can see that the church is positioned so that it overlooks the area that it probably served.Laindon Common is in Little Burstead. The Common is managed by the Laindon Common Conservators on behalf of Basildon Council.

Langdon Nature Reserve (also described as Langdon Nature Discovery Park) is a 210 hectare nature reserve west of Basildon in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust, and forms part of the Langdon Ridge Site of Special Scientific Interest.This site has a wildlife garden, woodland, meadows and lakes. Over 350 species of flowering plants have been recorded, and 30 butterflies including white admirals, green hairstreaks, marbled whites and grizzled skippers.The site visitor centre is on Lower Dunton Road.The site covers the area of Dunton Plotlands, inhabited from the 1930s to the 1980s by smallholders and weekend residents. The remains of small buildings are still present.

The Dunton Plotlands was an area of small rural plots of land in Dunton Wayletts, southern Essex inhabited from the 1930s to the 1980s.The 'plotlands' consisted of small plots of land sold in the first half of the 20th century to people who built weekend cottages, holiday bungalows or smallholdings there. Many of the people building weekend cottages here would have come out from London. With the outbreak of the Second World War, many weekenders moved out to their plots on a permanent basis, to escape the worst effects of the Blitz. This period saw the Dunton population at its highest. After the Second World War, the new town of Basildon was created, encompassing the plotlands here and in the surrounding areas of Laindon and Pitsea. At the time, 25000 people lived in the whole area, often with unsurfaced roads and limited water supplies.Dunton Plotlands is situated to the west of Laindon and the Langdon Hills, now on the edge of the Basildon district. Today, Dunton Plotlands is part of the Essex Wildlife Trust's Langdon Nature Reserve. The Langdon Visitor Centre and the Haven Plotlands Museum, housed in a converted bungalow, exhibit the natural and social history of the area. The Plotlands is still a wooded area where a small number of cottages, and some of the original grid of grass tracks remain. Visitors can look around a preserved bungalow. Many wildlife events are held throughout the year.

All Saints' Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of East Horndon, Essex, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands north of the village, and northwest of the junction between the A127 and A128 roads, some 4 miles (6 km) south of Brentwood.

Laindon is a town in the Borough of Basildon in Essex, England. It is between Basildon and West Horndon. It was an ancient parish in Essex that was abolished for civil purposes in 1937. It was based on the manor of the same name. As of 2020, Laindon's population was 37,175.

East Horndon is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of West Horndon, in the south of the borough of Brentwood in Essex in the East of England. It is situated just south of the A127 road near Herongate. The village Church of All Saints is located to the north of the A127, and is redundant, but in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. In 1931 the parish had a population of 440.

Herongate is a village in south Essex, England. The village is situated on the A128 road between Brentwood and West Horndon. The population of the village is listed in the civil parish of Herongate and Ingrave.

Bulphan (pronounced Bul-ven ) is a village and former civil parish in the borough of Thurrock in Essex and one of the traditional (Church of England) parishes in Thurrock. In 2019 it had an estimated population of 1028. In 1931 the parish had a population of 455.

Barstable was a Hundred in the English County of Essex. Both the hundred and the manor with the same name are mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. A number of parishes in the western part of the Barstable hundred are now in Thurrock.

Toby Howe Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Billericay, Essex. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1999, when Billericay Cricket Club played Wanstead Cricket Club in the 1999 Essex Premier League.In 2000, the ground held a single List-A match between the Essex Cricket Board and Warwickshire in the 3rd round of the 2000 NatWest Trophy.The ground has also held 21 Second XI fixtures between 1999 and present for the Essex Second XI in the Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy.In local domestic cricket, the ground is still the home venue of Billericay Cricket Club.
