Doubling Point Light

The Fiddler's Reach Fog Signal is a fog signal station located on the Kennebec River in Arrowsic, Maine, in Sagadahoc County. It is about 1,100 feet (340 m) SW of the front light of the Doubling Point Range Lights, and about 2,000 feet (610 m) east of Doubling Point Light. The pyramidal bell structure was built in 1914, two years after a large steamship, the Ransom B. Fuller, ran aground in the fog on this section of the river.

The Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology is a distance learning school of yacht design in Bath, Maine, United States, established in 1930. Graduates of the school receive the Westlawn Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering and Yacht Design. The 320' three-masted schooner Eos was designed by Westlawn graduate Antonio Ferrer.

Winnegance is an area which includes parts of the towns of West Bath, Phippsburg, and the city of Bath, Maine, United States. It is located in Sagadahoc County, near Winnegance Lake and Winnegance Creek. Winnegance is from the word Winnegansis, Abenaki for "little portage". Following Winnegance Creek upstream from the Kennebec, then portaging one's canoe a short distance west to Winnegance Bay on the New Meadows River allowed the traveler to avoid the rough waters at the mouth of the Kennebec and Small Point. The route now crosses private land. [1]

The William T. Donnell House is a historic house museum, part of the Maine Maritime Museum on Washington Street in Bath, Maine. It was built in 1868 for one of the city's leading shipbuilders of the late 19th century, and has remained relatively unaltered since his occupancy. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Trufant Historic District encompasses a concentration of 19th-century middle-class residential housing on the south side of Bath, Maine. This area was most heavily developed during Bath's heyday as a major shipbuilding center, and includes numerous examples of Greek Revival and Italianate styling. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Bath Iron Works (BIW) is a major United States shipyard located on the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine, founded in 1884 as Bath Iron Works, Limited. Since 1995, Bath Iron Works has been a subsidiary of General Dynamics, one of the world's largest defense companies. BIW has built private, commercial, and military vessels, most of which have been ordered by the United States Navy.

Hyde School is a private, co-educational, college-preparatory boarding school for grades 9–12 and postgraduate in Bath, Maine, United States. It was founded in 1966 by Joseph W. Gauld who wanted to "set up a school devoted to developing self-confidence and self-discipline."

The Captain Merritt House is a historic house at 619 High Street in Bath, Maine. Built in 1851 for a ship's captain, its lavish Italianate styling epitomizes the wealth that came to the city in the mid-19th century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Hyde Mansion, originally known as Elmhurst, is a historic house at 616 High Street in Bath, Maine, United States. Now the main building on the Bath campus of The Hyde Schools, it was built in 1913 for John Sedgewick Hyde, the son of Bath Iron Works (BIW) founder Thomas W. Hyde. It was designed by John Calvin Stevens, and is an example of Colonial Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The William Donnell Crooker House is an historic house at 71 South Street in Bath, Maine, United States. Built in 1850 by the prominent local builder and designer Isaac D. Cole, it is a distinctive example of late Greek Revival architecture. The Crooker family was involved with Bath's shipbuilding industry. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in July 1979.

School Union 47 covers five towns in the state of Maine. Included in Union 47 is Arrowsic, Georgetown, Phippsburg, West Bath and Woolwich, Maine. All towns have schools serving grades K–6, with the exception of Woolwich, which serves grades K–8. Union 47's population, as of 2006, is approximately 740 students. The school union has no high school and all Ninth through twelfth grade students go to Morse High School in Bath.

The Carlton Bridge is a railroad vertical-lift bridge which carries one rail line over the Kennebec River between Bath and Woolwich, Maine. It was completed in 1927. Until August 1, 2000, it also carried two lanes of U.S. Route 1 (US 1) on its upper deck, after which the highway was transferred to the adjoining Sagadahoc Bridge and the road connection severed at the west end. The east end is gated, and is accessible only by authorized vehicles. The majority of the road deck remains but may be removed in the future. It is the last downstream fixed crossing of the Kennebec. With the removal of US 1 from the bridge, its primary traffic is freight trains operated by the Maine Central and Quebec Railway that are bound for manufacturers in Thomaston, of which several pass over the bridge per week. It has also carried passenger excursion trains to Rockland, although the Maine Department of Transportation leased the line to another company that meant the end of passenger service after 2015.
