The Island, also called as Island Grounds, is a river island situated on the Coovum River in the northern part of the Indian city of Chennai. The island was created artificially in the early 19th century by merging the Coovum River with the then "Elambore River". An equestrian statue of Sir Thomas Munro, popularly known as "His Stirrupless Majesty", is located on the island. The Madras Gymkhana Club and Pallavan Illam, the headquarters of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), Chennai are also located here. The Island Grounds constitute a vast empty space on the island where fairs and exhibitions are held. Anna Salai, one of the arterial roads of Chennai, originates on this island, running mostly in the southwest direction towards the south. The Kilometer Zero of Chennai is located at the midpoint of Muthuswamy Bridge on the Muthuswamy Road on the northern side of The Island.Since 1975, the annual India Tourist and Industrial Fair, popularly known to the locals as the trade fair, is conducted on this island by the state government during the months of January to March.

Rajaji Hall, previously known as the Banqueting Hall, Madras, is a public hall in the city of Chennai, India used for social functions. The hall was built by John Goldingham to commemorate the British victory over Tipu Sultan in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War.

The bronze statue sculpted by Francis Chantrey in the United Kingdom in 1834 and shipped to Madras in 1839, is one of the popular landmarks in Chennai. The absence of stirrups is one of the peculiarities of the statue and for this reason, it is also referred to as "The Stirrupless Majesty".

Bodyguard Muniswaran Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Muneeswarar. This is a small temple situated in the main area of Chennai Metropolitan Area. This temple is located just about one and half kilometres away from the Central Railway Station.

Zion Church is one of the oldest churches in Chintadripet area of Chennai, the capital of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Hence, in the near future, Park Town area will become a bigger transit or interchange zone for 6 different railway lines which comprise the 3 suburban lines, 1 MRTS line and 2 Metro lines. The arterial Poonamallee High Road, which passes through the neighbourhood, is the most important road in Park Town.
